Then creationism regained its advantage with the advent of the big bang theory. I am surprised why religious people don't rely more heavily on that. I suspect they don't understand the concepts involved in that theory, that's why.

I agree that the big bang theory can be seen as a 'pro creationist' (in the sense of a deity creating the universe, not in the sense of a deity directly crafting humans) scientific theory. The theistic scientists I have known will laugh at the idea of a young earth, and also believe that their God created the universe via the big bang, billions of years ago.

As for why non-scientist creationists don't embrace the big bang theory... they are usually fundamentalist, young-earth creationists.

Most evangelist leaders, like in all other religions, are men. So it goes to show that they would rather embrace a young-earth Gaia then a very old and wizened one that was banged a very long time ago.

Guess what. The virgin birth myth may have been created by the same mentality. I think a virgin birth by a woman like Mother Theresa in the last year of her life, or by Golda Meir, would be more spectacular in a theistic sense, but a 13-year-old virgin whom her old Paczek could not impregnate getting rounded down... by the horn of god... is more to the fancy of geezers, both old and young alike.

We, men are so... predictable. And by george, so is our testosterone-laden God, and so be God my witness.

That is if we believe in such crap in the first place.
