Because, in and alone by itself, being in and alone is the least-energy consuming. It is easy to do. No effort required.

Sometimes it is worse to be full of beans and wanting to meet people. When i was in solitary confinement for fourteen years, the worst days were when I felt the opposite on a Sunday to what you are complaining about now.

Well, I quite enjoy being in and alone on a Sunday but that is usually because I have been active all day; like today cycling for 20 kms. As for being in a rut; that fact that you realize you are in one should be a sign for you to get out of that rut. Sometimes people just feel safer being alone so it becomes a routine. I guess only you can answer the question about being in a rut.

Same reason we procrastinate.

Just do stuff

The underlying issues are probably more complicated then your question. Unless you're like me and recovering from a hangover on sunday.
