A 90 year old woman on C-span asks colored man why blacks are not more grateful to whites for getting everything for free.

Claims she is not racist...lol

My first reaction was "what the hell?" Then I got kinda worried that ignorance can survive that long in a person in this day and age.

Are there really whites who do not realize that all poor people get help if needed no matter their skin tone? That the welfare rolls are mostly white because the population in this country is still mostly white? And that there is no special treatment for a certain skin color unless it would be white in some places?

Mr. Harleston handled it with the most decorum considering.

not to defend racism, but at least elders have lived through a time that makes it understandable for them to feel as they do

growing up in america, its going to be hard for most americans to not harbor some racism, whether it be subtle or blatant

in this case, his ignorance probably comes from an eagerness to believe such hype that reinforces the beliefs he already had of minorities being ungrateful or lazy,,,the mentality that made it acceptible to treat minorities inferior in the first place
