Anyone notice the abundance of adults playing teenagers in tv shows?

Why can't they just get...oh idk...teenagers to play teenagers??

Oh...it's the teenagers playing adult roles here in my country laugh Really... here, the entertainment industry seems to drag teenagers growth in a hurry and gives them roles as mature as they can be...eg. mother/father roles, grown up singles falling deeply in love like adults do... even the kids are given adult roles for spoofs in one of the children's programs. ohwell

Maybe there really are 30 year old high school seniors. It's always possible that Luke Perry failed kindergarten 13 times........

I have two guesses

the perception of maturity/work ethic/ dependability

and/or

the contractual complications of hiring a minor(who cant consent to a contract without a guardian) and all the added headache of that minors guardian/parent's potential interference

That is something I hadn't thought about. It's really too bad though cuz i'm actually tired of watching stuff like Glee and then finding out that the main 17 year old character is actually a 25-30 year old.
