is too prone to abuse. it can easily destroy the house
of Mike and Van.

with the current format.

The open dissension and lively repartee and interesting
cast of characters is what is going to make or break this
site. if it gets muzzled it starves.

i've been having a good time. don't want to see it
get muzzled. especially for those who disagree with me!

theres always differant views to one piont or idea.this is why we have cumunication.if we didnt things would fail,run umuck,and so on.so differant opions need to be resovled.hence cumunication.voice your opion the right way and people tend to listen.the wrong way and nothing gets resolved and the end result is failer.

My vote is also NO. In the general forum, it's supposed to be any topic, so long as it is within the rules that are posted. So I think that the freedom of speach should remain. How many sites are there with this kind of liberty? Not many that I know about! I think if a posting is inappropriate, it should be flagged for review by Mike and Van. But I don't see where self deletion voting is helping things, because, like stated earlier, some people will click on anything!

I've said it in a few threads over the last few days that I don't like the idea of ANY thread EVER getting deleted. If a person gets out of hand, suspend or ban him/her and leave the posts and threads up so that everyone can read them and know why they're gone. The idea of self moderating isn't one of my favorites. I realise this is Mike and Vans site and they are trying to improve it. I can appreciate that but I don't see this as a step in the right direction.

so we all need to be babysat? Send to the top? People don't like change. This has positives and many negatives. I would imagine most on this site dont frequent the forums. I am confident the two running things are sitting and dwelling over the few crying over this.. right?

it is the users of the site who must accept or reject
the moderation technique. Mike and Van will be monitoring
the site to see how it is all working.

this is only discourse. expression of opinion. this is
what allows people to get to know one another in a real
way. i'm sure Mike and Van do not want to stifle it....

exactly!so go the the sorce of the problem.this is not the way.the only way to resolve the dimema is to talk to them.im sure they will listen to and all coments of ideas we all have.not bashing and yelling that gets you know where at least in a situation like this.

I don't see any yelling or bashing. I see people expressing their views in a manner where others can also add their comments.

I wouldn't worry too much about this moderation thing. Mike and Van have been good to us all the way and if they see this is causing problems, they'll fix it as they do everything else. In the meantime,let's enjoy this site and let's see what happens.
