Galendgirl's best option would be to work for it. the other could get her thrown in prison. The Government has other options, all legal.

Just because the Government has 'lawed' it legal don't mean its right.

Still stealing when you TAKE something from someone. (even if they are Scrouge).

This form of theivery has little to do with Robin Hood and a lot to do with the 'Sheriff of Nottingham'... (its taking by fiat).
HU?

So, you're one of those "It's my money" people. Meaning that you have full ownership rights over it. You are entitled to decide for yourself how much you will pay in taxes and for what. Government operating on a system of voluntary charitable donations. what an interesting idea. That ought to work!

Looks like the righties blinked in the shut-down crisis. They settled on about $39 billion in budget cuts. If John Boner wasn't who he is, I would feel sorry for him. He's gonna get all kinds of crap from teabaggers on his side.

John Kyle made quite a splash on the Senate floor last night when he claimed,
"Everybody goes to clinics, to hospitals, to doctors, and so on. Some people go to Planned Parenthood. But you don’t have to go to Planned Parenthood to get your cholesterol or your blood pressure checked. If you want an abortion, you go to Planned Parenthood, and that’s well over 90 percent of what Planned Parenthood does."

This article made a good explanation of what the truth really is.http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2011/apr/08/jon-kyl/jon-kyl-says-abortion-services-are-well-over-90-pe/When confronted, Kyle's office released the statement
the senator’s remark "was not intended to be a factual statement but rather to illustrate that Planned Parenthood, an organization that receives millions in taxpayer dollars, does subsidize abortions."

Here it comes!
Talk radio pundit Rush Limbaugh blasts the federal budget agreement reached on Friday, saying that if spending cuts total only $38 billion there is going to be “hell to pay” with tea party activists who want much deeper cuts.

Capitalism is a system that is setup so some small percent get really rich and most die in debt which they leave to their children but also allows for more luxury items, medical advances, work and education advancment and somewhat more convenience and stability and noone says this is a perfect system but if your so unhappy with the way things are here i hear the middle east has nice weather this time year

Here's a brief article about the final deal that Congress made in order to avoid the shuy-down.
WASHINGTON, April 12 (UPI) -- Budgets for transit, Pentagon construction and food programs would be cut for the rest of 2011 under the spending plan the U.S. Congress revealed Tuesday.
The nearly $40 billion in budget reductions in the plan represents the single largest cut ever made to the federal budget in one year, CNNMoney.com reported.

The document provided a first look at the $38 billion in spending cuts congressional negotiators and President Obama agreed to Friday just hours before a government shutdown.

Hard hit are the departments of Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, Commerce, Justice, Labor and Health and Human Services, all losing billions of dollars in funding. A review indicates every broad category of government -- except for the departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs -- sustained some level of funding reduction.

The plan includes nearly a $3 billion reduction for high-speed rail funds, along with roughly $3 billion less for highway construction and a $6.2 billion cut in Defense Department construction projects.

The Women, Infants and Children's program that uses federal money to subsidize food and nutrition needs of children from low-income families will lose more than $500 million, while programs that help prevent the spread of sexually transmitted diseases would be cut by $1 billion, CNNMoney.com said.

Grants to states that help pay for drinking water infrastructure projects would see a $1 billion cut.

The bill also would cut $377 million from the U.S. contribution to the United Nations, and lower the operating expenses line item for U.S. Agency for International Development by $39 million. Nearly $1 billion would be cut from a HUD-run community development fund.

"My committee went line by line through agency budgets this weekend to negotiate and craft deep but responsible reductions in virtually all areas of government," House Appropriations Committee Chairman Hal Rogers, R-Ky., said in a statement.

Congress will vote on the measure later this week.

Rep or Dem. The result will be the same.

New problems will be created.
New scams will be devised.
The poor will also be hurt.
It's a vicious circle.

I shake my head at those who say the other is a demon yet admit it was a difficult

I presume that you all realize my initial post was intentionally ridiculous, but dare I say reflects the justification many people feel about having others support them. I've worked my azz off most of my life, raised 2 kids on my own, been dirt poor and done okay - all in due season. I just WENT through the "unemployed and scared" routine a year ago so even that isn't old history. My point is not that I'm so great (god no!) but that I didn't expect someone to support me and I had to live within my means...I expect others to do the same and that goes for the leadership in this country and the country as an entity.

Really, is that too much to expect???

here is where we could get into a philisophical discussion about 'expectations' and 'living within means'

after all, what is credit for if we are truly trying to live within our means,

why do certain classes have the option to file bankruptcies and be untarnished or scathed, if we are truly expecting EVERYONE to live within our means,,,,

if only it were that simple, but in reality the government has a much larger charge than most of us do individually,,,their actions are going to affect and are dictated by many more people than our actions are,,,,,so the comparison seems like a great IDEAL but not particularly a realistic expectation,,,,

Actually, that's more or less the way it was intended. Government was always supposed to be supported by tariffs. Direct taxation was always considered thievery and tyranny, even by the Hamiltonians. That is why there is no provision for income taxation in the main body of the Constitution. It took the fascism that was popular in the early 20th century to get congress to pass the 16th amendment. And even then, it was sold to the naive booboisie as "voluntary". Further, if all the unconstitutional programs, wars, foreign occupations, corporate bailouts, and such were ended, there would be no need for an income tax whatsoever.
