Much as I hate to say it...

Republicans are right.

the true 'my-way-or-the-highway' stance is that which is held by the loan holder.

'Pay up or I breaka you legs'...

The republicans are frauds. They are holding up the budget over family planning. Had nothing to say while we stated two wars and nothing much to say about Libya. Spend trillions on defence letting the defence contracters bleed this country dry and the oil companies but pick a fight over loose change. I have no idea why the dems are so nice about all this, unless of course t hey are all in bed together.

Allmost every politician is a fraud.

Matters not which party shares the 'moment of blame' both parties share the 'actual blame'...

Time now to fix it.

Spending more will not do that.

Neither will taxing more.

Bull on that no offence. Taxing the class that has increased it share of wealth durring this depression is probably the fair thing to do being that they created the mess, the financial elite are who I am talking about.

Cutting public services in these worst of times is probably what needs to happen to wake up the masses, probably need more poor people rioting as in Egypt and Libya to get any real change anyhow.

So maybe its a good thing the republicans will get there way, cut food stamps cut education funding, cut the other programs and then we can finaly get enough people to wake up and say.

"WOW this country is a pile of stinking crap"

The true 'financial elite' are less the 2% of the population of the earth.

The people that we are discussing placing taxes upon are those that struggled to the top...

not those that had it handed to them.

The people that we are discussing placing taxes upon are also their BECAUSE of the debt our government incurred... OUR MONEY IS INFLATED... without the inflation they would not be chasing it so hard.

The top 2% now own half the wealth on the earth. They own the media empires that form peoples opinions and the banks that crushed the economy as well as the oil companies. They are who have gained through all this. Tax them at a higher rate before they own the rest of the planet.

The richest 2% of adults in the world own more than half of global household wealth according to a path-breaking study released today by UNU World Institute for Development Economics Research (UNU-WIDER).

The most comprehensive study of personal wealth ever undertaken also reports that the richest 1% of adults alone owned 40% of global assets in the year 2000, and that the richest 10% of adults accounted for 85% of the world total. In contrast, the bottom half of the world adult population owned barely 1% of global wealth

The top 2% don't live within the 'taxable' zone of influence of the United States of America.

and you are proposing to tax their only competition...

Ever wondered who is really behind the 'increase taxes' push...

you are gutting our own finiancal defenses...

For someone that cares not a whit about you.

Except as the corn they harvest.

what i don't understand is why people think taxing the rich MORE than their fair share is going to put money back into the pockets of the lower classes? just means the government will want to spend more, and it will not help solve any of the problems... obama kinda had the right idea about the public stimulus, not the corporate bailouts

No, they wouldn't. Even if the "rich" were taxed at 100%, none of the money would make it to the lower classes. It would be absorbed by gov'ment debts foreign and domestic and some would go into the pockets of cronies, democratic and republican alike. The idea that giving the gov'ment more money will cure any social ills is naive at best.

I dont know about putting the money in the pockets of the lower classes but I do know that we have a huge debt and the rich through these horrible economic times have seen their wealth INCREASE and their tax burdens DECREASE.

SO we make choices as a descent society do we let grandma eat cat food and turn people away who seeks assistance in these hard economic times? or do we ask the most aflluent among us to make sacrafices like the rest of us.

Pretty simeple choice.

You realize that by raising the taxes on the highest bracket you are not gonna get much more money from those elite. Yea they have ways to get their money out of the tax system. You will just be taxing the professionals that make decent money. Doctors, lawyers, dentists, people like that. They can make it into the top bracket w/o making millions of dollars. They did it with hard work and dedication. I don't think they should have to pay more.

You realize that tax laws can be written to close loopholes and off shore money hording? We can set the system up to whatever degree we need to.

Thats all for me its a beautifull spring day heading to Pymatuning PA for some Mt bike rideing and nature watching. Blue herons are nesting, bald eagles sitting on a nest and ducks and geese doing the mateing prances.

Ahh spring is finaly here in Northeast Ohio.drinker

Well why not just close the loopholes instead of actually raising taxes?

There's a certain amount of truth in that. That's why libs like me want all these free trade agreements nullified. We hav gotten so wrapped up in the taxation part, that we've forgotten to talk about the free trade agreements. As far as I'm concerned, If you don't pay taxes in America, then you are not an American, no matter what the Constitution says. You should lose your citizenship.

If a company has their so called "headquarters" located in a tax haven country the upper management should be compelled to spend atleast 300 days per year living and working in that country.

Having an office in Switzerland with 2 employees is not a "headquarters" or point of business operations.
