I feel really sad for you if that is the way you actually feel. I would recommend, very strongly, that you focus on your breath. Just do some easy breathing exercises and focus your attention on your breath.

If you have no real inner joy in your life, try that and see what happens. Seriously.
This was not a question. This was a comment on the quality of my existence. I didn't find it very accurate or uplifting.

My comments do not reflect on how I feel. In the best tradition of scientific research, the investigator does not ask questions based on how he feels. Only on what he observes and records. That is why I said, "That's about as far as I'm willing to go".

I like to find out things for myself, but listen to what I have been told and work it out from there

Then I was projecting. Perhaps you are very happy.

I feel that I would lack the joy I feel in my heart if I felt I had no choice and no will of my own. My life would be pointless and meaningless. I would be very unhappy.

I projected that onto you. I'm sorry. I just would like to know more about how that works, if you feel you have no will and no choice, I want to know how you can even be responsible for anything.

If we are destined to do certain things, who writes the script?

Do you believe in determinism? Or are you just part of chaotic system of cause and effect?

These questions are not just for you, they are for anyone who wants to address them.

Here are a couple examples of indoctrination that come to my mind.

I have to have a job.
I have to go to work every day I am assigned.
I have to do my job exactly as trained, (indoctrinated).

How free are you to say,"Look boss, the routine is oppressing and depressing. Let's change the game so, I don't feel like your machine."

How many have the guts to be independent, free thinkers and doers?

What would you gain from the action and what could you lose?

If the camp owners told me to pick up crap encrusted toilet paper off the floors every day and I told them I would only pick up the toilet paper only on Fridays, what would I gain and lose?

, I want to know how you can even be responsible for anything
THAT is the terrifying part of this theory. THAT is why I'm only willing to go so far with it.

We're all good, Jeannie. Just a little spat among friends.

Why do you feel (or believe) you have to have a job?
Who exactly indoctrinated you to that idea?

Janis Joplin put in the best simplistic form.

Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose.

I can only be free if, I have no fear of losing it all and living on the streets and with faith that all my needs will be met.

If, I was hungry, needed shelter, or medical needs, all I would have to do is, strip down bare naked in the middle of downtown. In a matter of just a couple minutes I would have clothing, shelter, food and medical assistance.

^^^^^^^^^
Now, that's faith.

Yep and I bet you could do that too. laugh

Freedom has always been a high priority of mine. I always took jobs that were not so great, did not pay much so I was free to quit when ever I felt like it. I did not have much to loose, and crappy jobs were easy to find usually.

I learned to earn my own money from my second husband who never had a job. Of course we never knew where our next rent payment was coming from, and it was a risky way to live. A bit stressful. He was a private investigator, and gambler.

I was homeless by choice for two years and traveled the country with a guy going from job to job, motel to motel. I did not like the lifestyle at all.

I have made money doing caricatures, cocktail waitress, serving legal papers, cleaning homes, running errands, refinishing furniture for people, selling art work etc. Sometimes I worked for a temp agency where jobs were temporary and I felt free to take time off when I wanted.

Bottom line is, you don't have to work for someone else or feel trapped in your job, but you have to work at some sort of occupation on your own.

My business card could have said: "Anything for money" But people may have gotten the wrong ideas. laugh

Well i would hate to think i was above everyone else on this website, and i'm only human. I don't think i have special powers that dictate everyone elses decisions. Luckily, the world doesn't revolve around one person alone. Just a shame somebody here can't see that.

I did that also.
Except, I did flea markets and little handyman jobs.
I traveled from Mexically to near Canada.
North for the summer and south for the winter.
I had, at one time, a 24ft. motorhome. Hoping some gal wanted to partner up. Never happened. Eventually sold it for a U-haul and turned my little Utility Trailer into a Travel trailer.
Did that for almost 10 years.
Easy going lifestyle.

Please be more specific about what and who you are talking about. I believe in saying exactly what you think instead of making vague insinuating remarks. Your post above is as vague and fuzzy as your pictures. Feel free to clear things up and explain exactly what you mean. Don't be afraid to say what is on your mind.

People often get the wrong impressions on these forums. It is better to be as honest and clear as possible. Try not to read stuff between the lines that is not there and assume things.

And an individual has a single point of view, yes, the entire universe revolves around them. That is called a point of view.

How much does free will have to do with your situation?

Complete free will...I choose how to react to any external situation that arises.

Do you have the will to think as you want or are you a victim of brainwashing?

I have to think for myself....no-one else wants to...

Do you think for yourself or do you believe what you have been told?

Discernment is what is required for me to understand what is being told to me...I have to investigate myself, and listen to my own instincts on what I am told.
