What does it mean to be "Happy"?
To Enjoy Tears of joy The irresistable smile, the contagious one What do these things really mean? How does one now if they enjoy, or are happy? |

For me, it's not something that happens everyday or all the time. It's moments, things that happen at the time. In reality you can't be happy or what ever all the time. Were human, so we experience different things in life many times. No one person is happy all the time in life. If they say they are. I wouldn't think of them as human

It is possibly the absence of unhappiness.

I'm thinking it would be a sense of "I like things the way they are, and I hope nothing changes too much." Strictly hypothetical though, as I've never actually been in that position.

To be able to allow things to roll off oneself without any need to bounce back. To not be phased by anything life throws at you.
Let's face it, happiness brings confidence. To not be happy brings a lack of confidence. But the boost of confidence that happiness brings allows one to overcome obstacles that previously seemed insurmountable. This does not mean that one cannot be unhappy AND self-confident. Rather, it simply means that someone who is self-confident and happy finds they have more confidence in the world around them. It becomes easier to take everything in stride, to enjoy the little things without stressing so much over the details. Life isn't perfect, but it sure is easier to accept that when you are happy. |

To me happiness is enjoying what's around oneself. Even if it means to be alone sometimes, it's amazing what a person can notice when the time is taken. Life has ups and downs, it all depends on how long people want to take to focus on the downs.

Are happiness and Joy the same thing?
I don't know. I find happiness when something good happens or when I am content with my current life experience in the present moment. Joy seems different to me. I feel joy deep within the core of my being no matter what is happening in my life. The joy is always with me. I feel it even if I am grieving, and unhappy with the present moment. It would look like this: |

G'day DT...
Happiness, I find, is a fleeting superficial emotion...dependent on the stimulation surrounding you... Contentment is felt at your core, a calm centre, it actually doesn't have any fan-fare, cheer squad, firework celebration, like happiness can.. It's the quiet acheiver, contentedness...a constant, not dependent on any external elements. like this... _____________________________________________________________________ whereas happiness is like this.... ^^^^^vvvvvv^^^^^^^^vvvvvvv^^^^^^^^vvvvvvvv^V^^v^^^^^^VVVVVVvvvvv^^^^^ |

More often than not,
Happiness is a personal choice. Some people choose to cling to a past that they can't change. They second guess themselves and focus on thier regrets. They seek the worst things about thier present and ignore the good things that are right within thier reach. They turn jaded eyes to thier future and preordain thier misery with cynical negativity. Others DO apprecieate things great and small. They tend to be happier people. Just what I have witnessed. |
