This maybe trivial and rude but I heard the worst name today and I appologize if I offend anyone but try to pronounce this name Ja-a.

That's it that's the name JA-A. Go ahead give it a shot.

It's not foreign so don't try to give it an accent.

What's the worst you've ever heard?

seriously? the hyphen( i'm sorry DASH) was a part of the pronunciation?

I live in the middle of Nowhere, Texas....

I don't actually speak ebonics....

But, that is truly f**kin tragic.

I mean, maybe my name "Eric" ain't spelled or translated right...but, My mom is head nurse for Mothercare at one of our major hospitals...in addition to other horror stories...and she got some goood ones...

"Fe Ma-Lay"..spelled: female
"Di Reha"....not kidding

"Kerosnee"...as pronounced although spelt 'kerosene'...apparently the parents saw the name in a Bunnings hardware store and thought it was a beautiful name for their daughter...noway

Naming a child a strange name like that just puts a strike against them when they grow up. They can accept the name and start acting as strange as it is or they can get an attitude (like Ja-a sounds like from your description)...

no accounting for taste

as a school administrator I thought I'd seen it all, but u guys have surprised even me

now - I'm wondering about the relative merits of allowing the Bureau of Records the right to tell the parents that they have a week to rename the kid or we'll do it for them

I once knew 4 sisters through a job, didn't have much contact with one of then so don't remember her name but the three I do remember are Whiskey, Gin and JD. All four beautiful young woman were named after booze (wonder why they were all in foster care???)

I have received mail addressed to Malice, which is M. Alice and when I have to sign this way I leave a big space between the 'M' and Alice, really who would name their brand new infant girl Malice??

I used to work for a real estate title company and we had some weird names come through there. The ones I remember off the top of my head are not bad on their own, but together they made me wonder about their parents. One was Douglas Douglas. And the other was George B. Bored. lol.
