Topic: Government Gets a Bonus!

That's right! The US Government did SUCH a great job last year that even retired politicians were able to give their staff bonuses and raises of up to 120% of their salary!

Alright, time to get serious. Marak's on a rampage tonight!
So, I am not one to scream anarchy needlessly but I think it is time to start a revolution. It has been stated by a previous President, you MIGHT know him as a formal General of a certain unauthorized military force, that in order for a nation to keep its government in check an armed rebellion would have to occur once every 5 years or so. And to varying degrees, this was successful. There were a few instances where armed rebellion was taken a little to far over situations that really didn't warrant drunken rednecks picking up their rifles. But they did and all was well. America remembered its roots and the government knew we weren't afraid to bust a cap where a cap needed to be busted.
So time passed and our beloved rednecks calmed down a bit (if you can ignore a 'civil' war.... Which some try to.) so the government began to forget. They forgot where we came from. They forgot their duties. They forgot their laws.
I suppose this isn't entirely their fault, I mean how can they be expected to remember all of that? I mean, they have to fulfill all those promises they made to get elected in the first place. How can they put a nation before all of those companies?!?! Why should we be so selfish as to not pay off THEIR debt?
You may not a subtle hint of sarcasm. Not to worry. It is only a puddle right now; it will be much worse when I am done.
So, here is my thought.... If we can afford to give bonuses in the MILLIONS and still afford to give raises after that, why the hell are we in a 'recession?' Hell, why not just come right out and say it.
WE ARE IN THE SECOND DEPRESSION.
Face facts. We are broke. Hell, we are BEYOND broke. If America was a 20 year old and asked to borrow money from their momma, she would slap them so hard across the face that their ears would bleed. And then she would go on to tell them how she can't afford to support our bad spending habits and keep a roof over her own head to.
Then she would slap us again.
That's a good momma by the way, slap your irresponsible children. God knows we have enough running around right now....
Back on topic; America couldn't get a loan from a mobster. Putting America down as a co-signer would have a dealership laugh you off of the property. America isn't even trusted to window shop anymore; everyone knows we couldn't afford it anyways.
And yet our government sees fit to not only give themselves golden handshakes and pats on the back, they have to continue to screw us over! Our debt has TRIPLED in the past four years. This isn't from previous issues either. This amount of inflated debt can only be attained actively.
Now, I am not going to point any fingers.... Especially because we Americans have voted in the problems.... But we need to face facts. Career politicians are crooked, two-faced, scum sucking pigs and have no right taking OUR hard earned money and screwing us over with it.
I am 19 years old, going to be 20 here shortly, and I can say with no hesitation that the money I put into medicare and Social Security will not be there for me when I need it. It isn't there for me now. My household only makes so much money, barely enough to get by honestly, and I am denied medicare for problems that have been ailing me for up to 5 years. I am close to having lockjaw because I still need all four of my wisdom teeth removed. I have problems with my lower back that I can't even get resolved. I haven't even SEEN a doctor in about 3 years. So you sure as hell know I am past due for a physical.

TL;DR Version
I am nearly 20 years old and I will be working for the rest of my life or I will die hungry and homeless.
Welcome to America. We did this to ourselves.
And if you disagree, X marks the spot and your vote counts.

I agree with you and I see your point, but you are 19 years old so I'm guessing you haven't paid that much into social security yet. You will and it probably won't be there for you when you need it. I would, however, suggest that you try to find yourself a job with a big company that has benefits, even for a short time, and get yourself healthy. Then you can concentrate on a career you want. There will be plenty of time to become cynical and dwell on the fact that the majority of the middle class today will be working and struggling until they put us in a box.

Try to enjoy your youth, it really doesn't get much better. frustrated frustrated

Well Paul, thanks for the positive words. Not many left in society, so it is nice to see someone that understands as I do but still looks on the positive. :D
I am currently working for a security company, trying to get some experience so that I can actually apply to work for other companies in that field without my resume being laughed at while sitting on some HR Reps desk. Everyone is willing to hire experience but is not willing to give it, so I need to wait my turn I suppose.
You raise an excellent point, I have not paid that much into social security but it doesn't take long to notice a pattern. The retirement age has been raised multiple times and those elderly folk who have spent their whole lives paying into it for these years that they couldn't provide for themselves anymore, those who claim SSI, are being called 'greedy' by politicians who are taking SSI money and stuffing it into their own pockets.
It is a rather simple pattern really, I have seen more creativity in a preschool class.
I don't have any time for 'enjoying my youth' as I need to provide for myself and get my feet underneath me NOW so that when I finally do have a family I can actually provide a life for them. I am not sure what kind of life it will be but I will be damned if I wait till then to find out.
My life has been worse so I know it doesn't get better. I am used to it by now though, already learned to accept life as it comes at me.
What I cannot accept is a double standard led Government that has no problem calling a generation that not only worked for everything they had but defended this country through multiple wars and now have to deal with the second depression of their lives greedy while they line their pockets against the storm to come. I have no tolerance for career politicians and I am tired of even a single cent of my hard earned money being slipped into their pockets. Not as things stand right now.

Again I understand your frustration, probably better than you do. I have been in the same business for 25 years, worked my way up the hard way, and now watch half of my earnings disappear in taxes. Then I get to watch our government spend billions of dollars fighting wars in countries that don't want us there. And now we just loaned Brazil 2 billion dollars to help them drill for oil in the Gulf of Mexico, while we have a moratorium on US companies drilling in the Gulf. Our government does need to start answering to the people, or the people need to learn to speak Chinese.

An excellent point, one that a very humorous commercial pointed out as well. I am sure you have seen it, it is a Chinese university classroom doing a study on great nations that have died out and the Professor explains that they all did the same thing. They forgot where they came from, forgot the people and thought they could fix their depressions with taxes, changes to health care programs and 'stimulus' programs.
Then the professor makes mention that because China owned more then half of the US debt, we now work for them.
I wonder how you say, 'Can I get fries with that?' in Chinese.

The problem isn't so much that the politicians forgot where they came from, as it is they come from everywhere. The US has always had an open door policy, so there isn't a majority that can trace there roots back to the foundation of America. A lot of "Americans" are only 3rd - 5th generation Americans. The principles that this country was founded on have been watered down, this country was built by working together for the benefit of all. Now it is more like every man for himself, while our government puts our resources to use overseas to attempt to convert cultures that have existed for 1000's of years that our 250 year old culture is better.

I have traced my family, on both sides, in America before the country existed. My ancestors fought to build a country where they could follow their religious beliefs and wouldn't be taxed into oblivion so the "government" could colonize and exploit cultures around the globe. It's time we, as a nation, concentrate on our own culture and way of life. A country founded on Freedom of religion has no business trying to influence cultures that have existed longer than it has existed. If people want to emigrate to the US and support the society that our founding fathers created let them in. If they want to come here, illegally, and drain our resources and contribute nothing send them packing.

We need to start working together to take care of our own country. We need to use our own resources and support our own industries.

@ OP-I hate to inform you of this, but your vote does not count. The electoral system is thoroughly corrupt and rigged-especially since the 16th and 17th amendments were ratified.
