'American Gangster' was good ;-)

'Once upon a Time In America' still one of my favorites

Brick.

It stars a younger Joseph Gordon-Levitt (500 Days of Summer, and Inception) and while it isn't SET in the past, its written and filmed like an old PI film noir... the language and dialogue make me wish I were living in the 50's

No Country For Old Men- One of the best villain's ever, Javier Bardem was purely great in his role. I love it when the girl tells him "You don't have to do this" (meaning kill her) and he looks at her with so much curiosity and asks "Why does everyone say that"? You know, and she knows, that he cannot be reasoned with. He is going to kill her, and he looks at peace even when knowing what he is about to do. Awesome!

House Of The Devil, set in the early 80's about a college girl who is hired as a babysitter. Of course nothing is as it seems, the couple who hired her are a little odd, and she isn't babysitting a child but the wife's mother(or so we are lead to believe)

The film did an amazing job of capturing the look and feel of that time period- it took me right back to then, and as it did the film worked for me as a slowburn horror film.
