Before you read this,yes it is a true story.If it gives just one person hope I've done my job.This poem is my life and what happened in July 2002.I just pray the right person reads it tonight.There is hope,have faith,and just hold on.

I've left a lot of things unsaid I really meant to say,
And many tears I've shed and wished they'd go away.
A lot of heartbreak in my life I didn't understand,
Too many lonely nights without someone to hold my hand.
A tear stained pillow that became my best friend,
Because I knew if things got tough on it I could depend.
Mornings when I couldn't stand to see my own reflection,
Days and weeks I spent pointing out my imperfections.
Self esteem what is that is what I often used to say,
Not caring if I even lived to see another day.
Life had become too difficult no sense in going on,
Holding on to what a dream I knew that I was wrong.
So on that night years ago I chose to slit my wrist,
I had no care in the world I wouldn't be missed.
The agony of sitting there watching my life slip away, With still so many things left usaid I wished I'd had the strength to say.
Awakening in a hospital doctors said I should have died,
I looked at them and said,"Don't you think I tried?"
"How dare someone save the life of a man who doesn't care",
"Just to bring me back to a world that's so unfair."
"You couldn't leave well enough alone and just let me die in peace",
"Lonliness is a disease for which I have no reprieve."
Many things I'd left unsaid I now say every day,
And try to help another soul that's struggling along the way.
I'm still alone and cry sometimes but I guess that's just me,
I'm not yet where I want but I'm far from where I used to be.

So I found a reason to stay alive,
Try a little harder, see the other side.
Talking to myself -
Too many sleepless nights,
Trying to find a meaning to this stupid life.
I don’t want your sympathy,
Sometimes I don’t know who to be.

They just want more

This could be the first
Day of my life

So I found a reason
To let it go
Tell you that I’m smiling
But I still need to grow.

Will I find salvation in the arms of love?
Will it stop me searching? Will it be enough?

I don’t want your sympathy.
