How do i learn Biology effectively?

Register at a community college, sit down with an advisor, make a plan, get your gen ed courses out of the way then transfer to a university. |

For me, when I took notes in class, I'd insert little things that would help me learn the term and definition.
Then, I'd go over my notes and rewrite them again. But I also agree with what boredinaz06 said, as that'll really help you get started. |

A study group where you all make up your own tests to quiz everyone helped me...
|

Study groups are excellent. Be prepared for tons of rote memorization. Get used to using mnemonics. (eg. to learn all the cranial nerve roots, memorize "On Old Olympus' Towering Top, a Finn and German Viewed a Hop". The first letters of those words are the same as for the 12 cranial nerves).
Get ready for lab exams. On exam day, you will be confronted with some amorphous blobs of tissue and asked "Please identify". I totally sucked at this. |
