what do you think of the following kinds of music? Feel free to add any that I miss: Glenn Miller, Spike Jones, John Phillips Souza, Patsy Kline, Kurt Weill, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Gilbert and Sullivan. Woody Guthrie, Yma Sumac, That's just a beginning. Each one of these is a type of music that, at one time, I never thought I would appreciate. There are many more that don't come to mind right now. wow, Patsy Kline was soulful, which I always appreciate Never heard of the others,,, |

Nicccccce! If I could only dance. Let's face it. You have to be either gay of hispanic to be a guy who can dance. (Well, I guess I should include afro-Americans). White heterosexuals are fine in tractor pulling competitions. is this some recent newsflash thats gone around,,? It so NOT TRUE,,, right up there with white heterosexuals not being able to sing soul ( look at Robin Thicke, Elliot Yamin, Jon B,,,,,etc,,) people adapt to their environment, and some just dont have the rhythm to dance(regardless of race) most can dance if they have been AROUND others dancing though,(most guys in any of the 'boy bands', for example) |

the others are authors of show tunes (like broadway musicals) folk singers, band music, swing The others are much more than that to me. Glenn Miller exemplifies the romance of the WWII (Moonlight Serenade, for instance), whether real or imagined.
John Phillips Souza knew better than anybody else how thrilling the sound of an expert brass band can be. I've stood on a flight line as they passed in review. It can raise your hair. Patsy cline was a wonderful singer, but it was learning that Willy Nelson wrote her biggest hit (Crazy) that made me feel a close connection with her Kurt Weill, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Gilbert and Sullivan - All famous songwriters. Like Sinatra, they all did what they did better than anybody else. I just threw Spike Jones is as a ringer. Good for a laugh, but I never liked his "music". |

If you think that John Phillip Sousa is just for brass-lovers, take a listen to this famous Horowitz transcription of Stars and Stripes Forever. Even if you can't dance, anybody can march.
