Electric chair?

A 45-year-old Denver woman was arrested Tuesday and accused of knowingly spreading HIV while allegedly working as a prostitute, Fox 31 reports.

Prosecutors say Frances Woodke -- who has known for years that she is HIV positive -- offered sex to an undercover police officer for $23.

Woodke is being charged with two misdemeanors -- prostitution and solicitation for prostitution -- and a felony count of prostitution with knowledge of AIDS, according to the station.

The woman has pleaded guilty twice before to attempted prostitution with knowledge of AIDS -- spending time in prison for the charges in 2000 and again in 2008, according to the Denver district attorney's office.

"It's going to be difficult for us on the law enforcement side to identify people she put at risk -- if there are people she put at risk," said Lynn Kimbrough, a spokeswoman for the Denver district attorney's office.

So she told the officer not to wear a condom as well?

Im sorry, sometimes Im too dern lazy to follow the link.

I think that the responsibility is assumed to be hers to not spread the disease as much as it is others not to catch it.

An STD for a hooker is a job hazard akin to getting hit by something falling can be a hazard for a construction worker. If highly experimental drugs that can cause a developing fetus to grow wings can be legal then having sex for money should be legal as well. Is that not what Hugh Hefner's girlfriends do?

the issue isnt sex for money, the issue is knowingly passing on potentially fatal disease

That was my thought too. I wonder if we ought to place any responsibility in the hands of people who we consider criminals though. The profession is prone to drug addiction. Is that what we want to say has the public health at hand?

we dont just consider them criminals, we also consider them informants and witnesses

they are protected in many ways under many circumstances in return for the help they give to police on the street and we still dont expect them to be potential murderers just because they are prostitutes anymore than we expect adulterous males who frequent them to be

Quite right. I just meant that they cannot reasonably be considered a responsible resource.

perhaps clients shouldnt expect them to be the most responsible resource, but the law can still expect them to not willfully take the life of others
