Wall Street- Got this when I played baseball in my youth. I was sitting on the bench before a game, and a Wall Street Journal was sitting there, so I opened up. Next thing I knew, one of my teammates yells, "Hey Wall Street!". It stuck. |

A couple that are just different/shortened versions of my name.
Nicknames are fine when it's someone I know. I don't like when I introduce myself to someone and they turn around right away and start calling me by a nickname, though. |

In high school I got the nickname Chainsaw after the comedy Summer School was released. In the film there is a character nicknamed Chainsaw who is obsessed with horror films.

I've had the nickname "Chi-Chi" since I was born, grandpa named me that after a girl on a radio program. When I married, my husband would introduce me by my given name "Carole", so when I hear someone call me Chi-Chi, I know its someone from my early years...

My Dad called me scooter because I had a scooter as a young child that I went everywhere on. I never let my Dad's friends, or anyone else, call me that...just dad! We tried to do nicknames in the lab I work in years ago, but a few people complained so we had to stop, but mine was Spike due to my short temper when I can't figure out how to do something (like using some of our statistical analysis software). The genetics program gives nicknames to the recruits @ our famous chicken Oil dinner & usually they stick with us throughout the program. I could never remember mine from one year to the next so last year the gave me...Beer Wench! That one I can keep! LOL |

My seventh grade homeroom teacher gave me the name of "baby amplifier", which converted to my friends , as just "amp"....hmm, dunno why
 , but it stuck with me for a few years until my family had relocated next town over.

Most people just call me 'Irish' cause i got alot of irish pride and my docs are the irish flag.

Most people call me Krupa.
Everyone does actually. Cept for my family....to them I am Eric. Except for my brother....he calls me "sh*tbisquit"....or "n**ger"...or "fuqstik"..... But they are terms of affection or endearment.... Just like I refer to my brother Buddy Lee as "Silver Back"...or "You scurvvy b!tch" or "Adopted" Nick names are a good way to show a deep personal connection. |

The only nick names I have every had was when my little sister use to call me sissy cause she could not say Kristi...then of course several family members call me Kris.....actually prefer Kristi kind of like my name.......
