I have a wold on my calf as well my favorite animal and I go through life as a lone wolf just trying to survive

It's funny how the same symbol an mean different things for different people.

For me, the wolf isn't about being alone at all. Wolves are pack creatures. For me, the symbolic wolf has to do with that, my pack. My family and friends, how I feel about them, what I would do for them.

Fireflysgirl: Your dragon and phoenix is awesome. I love what these two symbolize, and it's pretty neat that you took what is generally considered an Eastern concept (yin and yan) and represented it with a Western Dragon

yeah I wanted the symbolism, but wanted something that was my own as well! I am also born in the year of the dragon on the chinese system & specifically the year representing the fire dragon! However, tha image of beautiful dragons in my mind are European style dragons so I asked Scott to draw her that way. Notice the dragon is also on the female or yin side while the phoenix is on the light side! The phoenix is my ex hubby that I reconnected with last year. He is native American and his animal totem is the Falcon.

My animal totem is the Wolf! I like that, wolves can survive well either with others or alone so they are highly adaptable and symbolize strength, protection, and solitude so I agree with both sides about wolves...and, of course with krupa's interpretation too!

bobbi-the story is long and very complicated! Basically, we separated due to his incarceration and I tried living a life without him & we even divorced, but I could never heal emotionally from the past until I reconnected with him and dealt with the issues! So the reunion, and my healing, are what inspired this piece and I am so proud of how it came out.

I know wolves are pack creatures but there are outcasts and Lone Wolves and those are the ones I most admire

No, I totally get your symobolisim, I wasn't arguing with you. I think that's what most people think of when they see a single wolf. I was just pointing out how interesting it is that wo people can pull differnt meanings from the same symbol.

I always viewed wolves as a beautiful and dangerous b!tch that takes no s**t.

Hah! Thank you Krupa. That's certainly how I feel when somebody messes with one of my pack. I get all protective (which makes things hard when you friend doesn't want to be protected!).

I have two, both on my ankles. They represent two important things to me. One is a rose and handcuffs ( I'm a deputy), and the other is a baby garfield ( which I've collected forever) with my sons name and birthday. I believe (IMHO) that tats should have meaning. Why else get them? They mean so much more when they represent something.
