What a very nice thing for this woman to do, she took the time to write this letter to a local newspaper and to praise and show respect for me and my fellow trashmen from ABC Disposal , I tip my trashcan lid to you my dear.



LETTER: Respect trash collectors and their safety

First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to all emergency personnel who keep us safe always, and especially during this most recent storm.

While out several days later, I happened to be driving behind an ABC trash truck. My own car sliding along the street as I waited, I watched this large truck in awe as the driver carefully drove, making frequent stops.

I watched these men, bundled up and looking cold as one repeatedly jumped in and out of the truck to aid the other, pulling, tugging barrels, some frozen in the snow and even climbing mounds of snow. You could see the evidence of Christmas wrapping, reminding me of the extra trash from Christmas.

I continued to watch from my warm car as they struggled to remain on their feet. Their faces were red as they dumped one barrel after another and continued down the street.

While watching, I saw some people passing, some clearly upset that they (ABC) were in the way. Some yelled, others passed by but not without screaming obscenities, and the most frightening was when one car decided to zoom past the truck with no thought of the man behind that truck.

Does anyone recognize the danger that these hard-working men have to face doing these routes every week? So many people look down on them, get frustrated by them and never acknowledge their contribution to our community.

Please, before you decide to yell or honk as if they were purposely obstructing your path, try to recognize these men for what they are doing, as they handle what you throw away. I don't care to look back at my trash, and definitely not handle it, and these men do it through all types of weather and traffic conditions.

Instead, appreciate them, and if you can't do that, by all means take another route. These men have families and lives and deserve to be considered and kept safe — because without them, it would really stink around here!

the trash dude at my place skips my container some weeks. i think because i keep it by the curb and some weeks i don't have any trash in it. thing is my bill comes every month even if i don't have trash

We don't get billed for our trash here.
