I am done buying and wrapping gifts. I am hosting Christmas for family this year and groceries are all bought and ready. Now I just need to vacuum the house, clean the bathroom and mop the kitchen floor. Being laid off since early November helped me get everything done that I needed to do.

my christmas is over

Did I miss something??? It is a day to celebrate as best we can, a day to just share and be 'as one'.

I am as big a bah hum bug as can be but even I try to get the PROMISE of the season.

I hope something happens to make this weekend become magical for you, you deserve it!

I just need to wrap presents.

Time's a wasting! Get on it!! I'm available to help...as soon as my knitting is done...probably midnight xmas eve...

I wish you could wrap them for me! I'm not very good at wrapping presents.

oh I am so good at it, easy peasy!! Used to fuss, now if the gift is hidden by wrap - all is good! Still my old habits come through and most of my wrapped stuff looks ok. Of course by the time I package it all up and transport it ....lots of mushed gifts. None that will be hurt though. Most of my gifts are hand knit or home baked ...who cares if the wrapping paper takes a beating!??

My kids are getting pictures of their gifts...it's xmas eve here...and well, we are flooded in, with a whole heap more rain and flooding on it's way...noway

...and do they care?...nope...we are all together, well, the younger ones and I...and we have food, shelter and each other.

I could have made a dash for town a day or two ago, but the chances of getting back here weren't good...and well being stuck on one side of the river and my 16 and 13 year old alone for maybe over a week was not an option.

to do?

I have one gift left to knit, thankfully it is small so I think I can get it done and wrapped in time. Tomorrow is gift baking day, otherwise my recent unemployment cut short any further plans.

So where are you? Ready? Nearly ready? Way the f behind??

Have nothing to do as I am not celebrating Christmas anymore.

I'm finally finished wrapping.

My cat tried to help, too.

Hi navygirl, I wonder why you aren't' doing xmas anymore? I don't do any of the religious part, haven't since I was a kid. It is more just a time to be together as much as is possible, what with job schedules, travel expense etc etc. Even the year my late husband died on Nov 2nd I was lifted by the love of family, family who were there for me during such an unbearable time.

I hope that you have a good Saturday and are content with whatever made this choice be ok with you.

I know there are lots of reasons for not partaking in even a small way, believe me I know. I just wish you a happy day.

I only had to go back to the store today for cranberry sauce, an onion and a bell pepper. (I had lost my grocery list before doing the "big" shopping on Thursday.)

Well I am not religous to start with. I have no family to spend it with. My friends are all much younger so they spend it with their moms and dads. As for gifts; I don't want anything for myself as I truly have so much; so instead I have people donate money to those less fortunate than me on my behalf. I remember setting up a tree one year and I sat in an empty house staring at it which really drepressed me. I did get a chance to help at a party for the underprivilidge families by the Fire Department so I was happy to help these families have a good Christmas. Thanks for the well wishes.
