Look around you and see and feel and come to understand infinity.
Then consider the question of God. Evolution is real and we were
not created within the last 10,000 or even the last 10,000,000 years.
There is no conflict between God and evolution. Evolution is a part
of what God is.

Most people recognize how truly miniscule we are in the scheme of
the universe and conversely how infinite is God.

So creationism as a kind of magic "poof out of thin air in days"
is ridiculous as it denies the obviousness of evolution. On the other
hand the notion of atheism - that there is no God at all - begs the
question of what is this infinitely greater world and from whence it
originated.

bigsmile

The Big Bang is a kind of magic "poof out of thin air thing" wow what an amazing commonality......go figure

no kidding...seems like that people just have to believe that everything just appeared out of nothing....i guess there just has to be a beginning... not a big bang or god snapping his fingers believer at all...

There is nothing wrong with the Big Bang theory either as it only describes one event. So what big deal. This theory does not pretend that there was nothing before the big bang. It simply does not address that issue.

happy

Furthermore - the big bang theory does not imply "poof out of thin air".

you do understand that the big bang theory is that all matter in the universe was created in about a millionth of a second, right?

Actually the big bang theory addresses creation and evolution......if the space and time came from a big bang I int the Bible let their be light .......it also addresses matter created from the Big Bang falling to Earth with organisms ore and materials.....creating life from the organism and evolving into animals so yes the Big Bang theory has a lot to do with evolution from the scientific aspect.....but also not so very far off from the biblical sense either.....so believe what you must or wish but it seems to me people with higher educations are more likely to believe that science goes back to religion.....

i just don't believe in the big bang theory or genesis... i think there might have been a big bang at one time, but not all matter was created from it. what happens when a black hole gets full?

I don't believe in either myself.

Both are far fetched. But man needs to have a temporary explanation to feel comfortable so big bang is what is up right now. If man survives long enough a better understanding will happen.

But everyone knows Genesis is just a fantasy story made up by very imaginative men. There is no way man would have survived genetically with an incestuous beginning like in Genesis.

And they had boys so either we procreated from incest or two males one killing the other were able to reproduce somehow......but everything was written by man.....it did not appear out of thin air......anyways...we do know that meteors hit the Earth where all mineral deposits have been found and located they can spot this through satelite detection from space and have located actual spots

I just say live and let live. I live in the state with a crappy Creationist Museum (and soon a giant Noah's Ark museum too!) and people seem nice enough about it. Plus the museum has robotic dinosaurs!

But I would like to see a natural history museum with dinosaur bones, or paintings or SOMTHING in this wasteland of a state.

Got an idea here, you can open up an immaculate conception Clinic and a Leporsy treatment center accross the street and make a killing!

Read about the theory in the Wiki here for a better understanding.

just a thought, that the lifespan was much longer in those days and that Adam and Eve actually had many children in addition to Cain and Abel, who had children, who had children,,,,,and incest was initally a necessity and not full of the risks that it supposedly has in modern times,,,

Dragoness,

It is scientific fact that the Universe is expanding.
In fact it has been proved that it is still accelerating, not slowing as was thought a few years ago.
The question is what caused it. We may never know without stronger telescopes because we can't see that far.

In my opinion a Black Hole cannot possibly get full......a black hole is a portal to something else.....its my theory.......but no one has ever gone through a black hole and no one can tell you what an actual black hole does or its purpose in space......I believe it leads to parallel universes......and other spacial realms

A new Gallup poll, released Dec. 17, reveals that 40 percent of Americans still believe that humans were created by God within the last 10,000 years. This number is slightly down from a previous high of 47 percent in 1993 and 1999.

Another 38 percent of respondents believe that humans have evolved from more basic organisms but with God playing a role in the process.

A mere 16 percent of respondents subscribed to the belief of "secular evolution": that humans have evolved with no divine guidance. However, this number has nearly doubled from nine percent of respondents in a poll from 1982.

The poll also revealed that beliefs in creationism and evolution are strongly related to levels of education attained. When results are narrowed to those with college degrees, only 37 percent of respondents maintain beliefs in creationism. Meanwhile, the belief in evolution without the aid of God rises to 21 percent.

With regards to political affiliation, a majority of Republicans (52 percent) subscribe to creationist beliefs. This is compared to only 34 percent among Democrats and Independents.

Views on human origins vary based on church attendance. Of those who attend church on a weekly basis, 60 percent believe in creationism while a mere 2 percent subscribe to "secular evolution". These numbers are flipped among those who rarely or never attend religious services. In this group, only 24 percent believe in creationism while 39 percent believe in evolution without divine guidance. This represents the only subset of data reported where "secular evolution" beats out creationism.

"That tells me that the more education you have, the less likely you are to buy into fairy tales."

If that is true explain why "educated" people believe the man made global warming and 9-11 was an inside job fairy tales..

it's called "over-educated idiocy" :) We don't all believe that though & I know geneticists that disregard evolution due to belief in creationism?! All-righty then, please explain why there is so much conservation of genetic structure and function across such a diverse array of species! WTH

Is "I don't know" a fair answer? :)

beliefs are usually not facts, but IM sure they can be

to say I believe two and two is four wouldnt make much sense

to say I believe in creationism is to say it cant be proven and is therefore not qualified as a FACT that one can KNOW,,,

saying ya dont know, leaves the possibility open either way, kudos..

Unless you're a Repub.

Then nothing matters since you usually get it wrong anyway.
