I dated a guy who always opened the car door for me and can I tell you it drove me crazy!!! It is one thing (if he must) if it is the beginning of the date and he is just being polite in a nice way. It is another thing if we have stopped at a quick stop so I can run in and get smokes and I have to wait for him to open my door...like I can't do it myself. Or if it is pouring rain and I can get into the car faster by myself!! I tell you he took his 'old world charm' to maddening extremes!!!

Perhaps I am just to independent to live.....?

Preach on Brother Ron!

I mean, I try to be a gentleman and hike up her pants or loosen her bra to make her safer and some chicks just flip out for no reason!

Go figure

You are dating the wrong females! Hope at least she has a normal name!! LOL

Like TheShadow said seeing this is the net...so is why majority meet somewhere instead of picking up at the door.

Seamac, you're talking about smothering, and no one likes to be smothered. In fact, it's a good way to end a relationship real fast. Everyone needs at least a little space to maintain his/her comfort zone no matter how good the intentions are.

I have seen people who meet in person do the same thing. It's not just the 'net. Many women feel safer meeting someone they don't know well in a public place where they can talk. They might have met before, talked briefly, or hung out a little, but once the woman realizes how little she knows him, she tends to like the security blanket of meeting in public rather than being picked up at home.

At least, that's how it often is where I live.

Pick their dates up at the door anymore?

Only if the roofies kick in too soon and she passes out in the doorway.

Just be honnest with the guy...I mean women always complain about how chivalry is supposedly dead...Either live with it or complain...
How is the dude supposed to know unless you tell him? Most guys are dumb, you know. I include myself in this, we need a visual reminder most days, lol.

If I'm walking with her from the quick stop or where ever, I will open her door, but not if I'm waiting in the car for her.

Are you too independent to have a man (in a resterant) to help you in your seat when you are first sitting down or standing when you come back. Open a door, give you a seat. Stand when you enter a room. Or are I'm old fashioned from what my grandparents taught me.

I would think that most would be able to see what she's talking about is a little overkill. It just takes a little common sense. Opening a car door once in a while is nice, however it's definitely not needed every single time.

You are a old fashioned . Opening doors for anyone is a nice thing to do. I do it for people all the time. However, standing when I come back to a table? Or helping me sit down? Not needed.
