But one that truly has God in his/her heart would feel guilty for such an action and or just turn away from that action in the first place. It is not for the reward, it is for love. You seem to be truly stuck on that reward. Why seek a reward for action? Why not do the action out of love for the betterment of someone else? |

Well all other arguments aside, I have been in a situation to help someone else and I never did. Out of fear of what the person would do or say to me. So I guess my answer to the original question put forth in the thread is NO I would not help anyone even a little bit.

The only thing that I would like to say about these passages and verses from the Bible is that this isn't the only place this kind of wisdom can be found, nor it it the only place it has ever been taught. I don't disagree with any of the wisdom that is printed above. However, I feel that it's grossly misleading when presented as named and numbered verses from the Bible as though this wisdom originated from the Bible, or somehow belongs solely to the Bible. Perhaps in these specific exact words, yes, but certainly not in the spirit of what is actually being said. This is the very same wisdom that was taught by Lao Tzu, Confucius, Buddha, and many others, long before Jesus was ever born. This wisdom does not "belong" to Jesus nor did it originate with him. On the contrary he mostly likely learned it from Mahayana Buddhism since that was the form of Buddhism that was most popular in his day. He most certainly didn't learn this from the Torah. That should be obvious. So I'm not disagreeing with the wisdom that the gospels attribute to the teachings of Jesus. But it's clear that Jesus was nowhere near the first person to teach this wisdom. Although he may very well have been the first to teach it to the Hebrews. At least in a way where it was finally recognized and incorporated into the Hebrew religion via the New Testament. But Jesus was most certainly not the originator of this kind of wisdom and advice. This has been the wisdom of the Eastern Mystics for centuries before Jesus was ever born. It's not unique to the Bible, and therefore it cannot have been unique to Jesus. |

Gal_6:9, And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.  The only thing that I would like to say about these passages and verses from the Bible is that this isn't the only place this kind of wisdom can be found, nor it it the only place it has ever been taught. I don't disagree with any of the wisdom that is printed above. However, I feel that it's grossly misleading when presented as named and numbered verses from the Bible as though this wisdom originated from the Bible, or somehow belongs solely to the Bible. Perhaps in these specific exact words, yes, but certainly not in the spirit of what is actually being said. This is the very same wisdom that was taught by Lao Tzu, Confucius, Buddha, and many others, long before Jesus was ever born. This wisdom does not "belong" to Jesus nor did it originate with him. On the contrary he mostly likely learned it from Mahayana Buddhism since that was the form of Buddhism that was most popular in his day. He most certainly didn't learn this from the Torah. That should be obvious. So I'm not disagreeing with the wisdom that the gospels attribute to the teachings of Jesus. But it's clear that Jesus was nowhere near the first person to teach this wisdom. Although he may very well have been the first to teach it to the Hebrews. At least in a way where it was finally recognized and incorporated into the Hebrew religion via the New Testament. But Jesus was most certainly not the originator of this kind of wisdom and advice. This has been the wisdom of the Eastern Mystics for centuries before Jesus was ever born. It's not unique to the Bible, and therefore it cannot have been unique to Jesus. This post is not to debate whether or not Jesus coined these phrases. The post was not offered to you, although you are more than welcome to reflect upon them... you might benefit from them if you apply them, though.
