I can understand them leaving the Mountain West Conference to get a chance in the new Pac-12, but I think its nothing but cowardly to pay 150,000 dollars to get out of playing three games against Boise State. Seems like they are afraid of the challange.

It wouldn't make sense for them to be afraid of playing a WAC team, then join the PAC-10 since both Mountain West and WAC are used as warm ups for the PAC.

This is The Captain.

They are afraid of the top ranked BSU Broncos. If they lose, they know their whole season could be shot, and the odds of them winning on the blue turf are slim indeed. A 60+ and 2 home record tends to give opposing coaches reason to tremble.

They're playing BSU in some non significant bowl game. Las Vegas bowl I think. Its a million dollar payout, but UofA and ASU get that every year for the territorial cup.

Very true. And we will see what happens come game time.

As far as the PAC-12 is concerned, BSU would be a major contender to any team in the conference. Evidenced by the 2-0 record with the ducks and the 2-2 record with the Beavers.

As far as the rest of all the conferences go, you want some, come get some.

Ask the ACC champion Virginia Tech team if the Broncos are for real.

Virgina tech will find out what the PAC is all about when they face Stanford.

And just for the record, come Jan 10, I'm gonna be a duck fan for the day. I'm not joking at all. I hope they win the title.

Utah is about to play Oregon, Sranford, UCLA, USC, Washington, etc. on a regular basis. Basically, they made a move to lighten up their non conference schedule because in conference will be tough. Lots of schools have done this. I hate they do it. Kansas State bought themselves out of a two game deal with Oregon. To the schools, the easiest path to the BCS and the money is the way to go. It's business.

Oregon is obviously a great team, as well as Stanford, but UCLA is far from the powerhouse of years past and USC has totally lost it and won't be anything for awhile. And Washington??? or Washington State????

Oregon is having an outstanding season this year, but the PAC-10 is anybodies game. ASU has been tough and often, Arizona can be quite unsavory too.

ASU waas 6-6 this year.

Arizona was 7-5, and will probably lose to Oklahoma in the Alamo bowl.

ASU is usually a little better than that, and Arizona has had time to recoup their senses and my guess is they will come out like they did before Foles got hurt, and prior to him coming back.

The point remains the same. Utah paid 150K to get out of playing a top ranked team. In the spirit of competitive sports, that nothing more than cowardly.

Captain. It is pointless talking to you about anything involving BSU because you have them on this pedestal and you just won't hear anything argumentative about them.

The Pac 10 won't always be down. USC will be good again in a couple of years. Washington will get better. So will UCLA. And that is what Utah is looking at. They know that those teams will not always be down. They know that while Stanford and Oregon are top dogs in the conference, it won't take long before the competition is tough. Thus, when it boils down to it, they saw a way out of a tough series with BSU and they took it. Agree or not. That is what it is.

BTW. And since you won't let go of how mighty BSU is. Last time I checked, they lost to Nevada. NEVADA!!!!!!!! So, any arguments about them for this year end with that. Just saying.
