The point remains the same. Utah paid 150K to get out of playing a top ranked team. In the spirit of competitive sports, that nothing more than cowardly. Comparing Mountain West and WAC to the Pac-10 is like comparing Big Sky to Big-10. |

Oregon is obviously a great team, as well as Stanford, but UCLA is far from the powerhouse of years past and USC has totally lost it and won't be anything for awhile. And Washington??? or Washington State???? Captain. It is pointless talking to you about anything involving BSU because you have them on this pedestal and you just won't hear anything argumentative about them. The Pac 10 won't always be down. USC will be good again in a couple of years. Washington will get better. So will UCLA. And that is what Utah is looking at. They know that those teams will not always be down. They know that while Stanford and Oregon are top dogs in the conference, it won't take long before the competition is tough. Thus, when it boils down to it, they saw a way out of a tough series with BSU and they took it. Agree or not. That is what it is. Hey Goof. In the original post, I said I understand why Utah left the Mountain West to enter the Pac-12. If BSU could have done the same, I would be applauding. And there are several teams in the nation that would just kick the snot out of my Broncos for sure. Am I a bit biased??? That pretty much goes without saying. But when a team pays its way to get out of contracts in order to lighten the scedule, thats just against the whole concept of stepping up to a challange. Utah, and their coaching staff will always be seen as a group that runs away from a fight. And yea, BSU played a really bad second half against Nevada, and paid the price for it, but then again, their previous loss was almost three years ago against TCU. BTW. And since you won't let go of how mighty BSU is. Last time I checked, they lost to Nevada. NEVADA!!!!!!!! So, any arguments about them for this year end with that. Just saying. |

What BSU has done over the past ten years is awesome. I mean, Dan Hawkins left to coach Colorado back in 2006 (I believe) and Chris Peterson just stepped in, and kept things going and brought in more talent. WAC or not. BSU has won. And that is something nobody can take from them.
Now, as for Utah. It's business, and while they can be looked at as cowards, the fact is many college programs have opted out of games before. Utah saw a way out and took it. I hate that they did. Would love to see them play BSU. TCU runs into the same problem. They have repeatedly tried to get Texas, Texas AM and Oklahoma to play them. And none of those schools would. It made sense for those teams to play TCU. A&M decided to do a 10 year series with Arkansas, but they signed that deal before Petrino got there and now I bet A&M wishes they hadn't, lol. A&M hasn't opted out mostly due to the games are played in Arlington and Jerry Jones would kill them, lol. Anyways, my point is that it sucks that Utah opted out. I love watching big match-up games like Bama vs. Penn State. Or Ohio State vs. Miami. Or how the SEC and ACC send teams to play in the kickoff game in Atlanta (this year we got LSU vs. North Carolina). We need more games like that, but sadly, until some AD's grow sac's to play them, we will only get a few a year. |

And Washington??? or Washington State???? As a follower of Stanford sports and having seen Boise State play a lot, this is all about money, as things of this nature usually are. I watched that Game that Nevada and Boise State played. One of the best I had ever seen. Shame Boise State lost and put a dent in their championship hopes. This also could mean that Boise is serious about BCS representation for their school. Just waiting to see how this all pans out. |

They might not go up in the polls at all.
But I think they made Utah look bad in more ways than one tonight. |

i want to say,one reason schools opt out to play BSU is because BSU charges an outrageous amount for schools to play them and BSU never wants to play away from their home turf.they know if they actually play away, they're not going to be able to blend into green turf

Oh JT.......what nonsense.
Oregon was away first..... Oregon State was away first..... Virginia Tech was away...... Next year Georgia is away for the second time. But this thread is about the cowardly Utah Utes that only made their own schedule weaker. |
