Republicans denied adequate health care to the heroes who developed illnesses from rushing into burning buildings on 9/11," Reid said. "Yet they will stop at nothing to give tax breaks to millionaires and CEOs, even though they will explode our deficit and fail to create jobs.

"That tells you everything you need to know about their priorities,"

That's only part of the story.

Dems voted no on amendments submitted by repubs.

Dems shot it by non-cooperation.

I know the repugs would only agree if the dems caved on tax breaks for the rich. How sad and pathetic.

You would not be surprised how many of the Senators voting "No" are ones who have a great documentation/speech trail of statements like, "We will never forget those who died and were injured on 9/11." Hmmmm...So quickly they forget.

The final battle of the 111th Congress is taking shape. After Republicans blocked a bill providing medical care to 9/11 rescue workers, Democrats are trying to get the bill inserted into the controversial extension of the Bush tax cuts. The tax cut “is the one measure the Senate Republicans won’t leave this town without passing,” said Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), a chief sponsor of the health bill. The move hinges on party leader Harry Reid, who attacked Republicans for citing deficit concerns when it comes to protecting 9/11 rescuers but pushing tax cuts for the wealthy. “That tells you everything you need to know about their priorities,” Reid said. After Republicans take control of the House, the Democrats believe they will have little chance of passing the bill.

I wonder what nonsense is that bill that led them to shoot it down.

What makes this especially disgusting and repugnant is that it's done by the people who profited the most and are still profiting from 9/11, who started wars for their own gains based on it, and who continue to bring it up as justification for doing their crap and love to refer to the heroism of these exact same people. messed up evil scum.

well, I guess people only get how complex bills can be when its a matter they agree with,,,,,,,

shame we all werent so understanding about all the legislation the government must consider,,,,,

on one side, the republicans actually DID refuse to look at any other legislation unless the issue of the budget and tax increases was considered AND they did refuse to pass anything that included tax increases on the top earners

on the other side, who knows what else was in the bill for medical that they shot down,,,,including them since it cant come to debate until their rich friends get a tax break,,,,lol

I think any bill that is written for a specific purpose should be required to be specifically for that purpose without any addons that have nothing to do with the original bill or its intent.

I have to wonder if some people live in a mental ghetto. IF you scroll up, hint, that is above. You will find several links. Psychological stupidity has become a kind of cultural disease that no one is addressing.

would be cool if news networks were 'graded' upon journalistic integrity to keep them on their toes
