Topic: Micheal Vick | |

I have just read the Micheal Vick(he of the dogfighting ring) leads the whole NFL in receiving votes for the Pro Bowl. I will in no way condone what he did and I certainly will not ever forget it. He has however, done his time and has become a model citizen and teammate and those guys swear by him. He gives credit to his teammates, his coaches, and even to the fans of the city of Philadelpia. doing his time , thats a novel concept, shame more americans dont believe in its value,,, most americans can't even get a job after getting out of prison... he had one waiting for him...i'm glad to see he is doing great, but don't confuse the issue, he is a special case... he is only as special as anyone else with money to afford the best attorneys,,, he lost all his money, he was broke when he got out... the falcons took all the money back because he didn't finish his contract... |

I doubt he was broke when he went in OR when he came out,, and he still did his time when someone is great at what they do, allowances are made look how many actors and actresses get busted on drug related charges and still have work 'waiting' for them when they come out publicity drives sales, and athletes and entertainers are basically commission workers(they are worth a portion of whatever they MAKE their employer) |

Michael Dwayne Vick (born June 26, 1980) is an American football quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League. He played for the Atlanta Falcons for six seasons before serving time in prison for his involvement in an illegal dog fighting ring. Vick played college football at Virginia Tech, where as a freshman he placed third in the Heisman Trophy balloting. He left after his sophomore year to enter the NFL and was drafted first overall by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2001 NFL Draft. He became the first African-American quarterback to be selected first overall in an NFL Draft. In six seasons with the Falcons, he gained wide popularity for his performance on the field, and led the Falcons to the playoffs twice. Vick ranks second among quarterbacks in career rushing yards. In April 2007, Vick was implicated in an illegal interstate dog fighting ring that had operated over five years. In August 2007, he pleaded guilty to federal felony charges and served 21 months in prison, followed by two months in home confinement.[1][2][3] With the loss of his NFL salary and product endorsement deals, combined with previous financial mismanagement, Vick filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in July 2008.[4] Falcons owner Arthur Blank did not want Vick on the Falcons, and after attempts to trade him failed, Vick was released. He signed with the Philadelphia Eagles and was reinstated in Week 3 of the 2009 season.[5] wiki... |

Chapter 11 usually results in reorganization of the debtor's business or personal assets and debts, but can also be used as a mechanism for liquidation.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chapter_11,_Title_11,_United_States_Code I would bet it was more of a reorganization of assets he had, as opposed to proof that he was 'broke' |
