It's hard not to swoon a bit over the news that Nigeria will file bribery charges against Dick Cheney, and that an arrest warrant "will be issued and transmitted through Interpol." He may never serve a day, it's overdue, it's not in our country, it's like getting Al Capone for tax evasion etc etc, but damn it feels good.

Officials in the African nation want to try Cheney for his alleged role in a bribe scandal in which Halliburton-owned company KBR gave $180 million to Nigerian officials between 1994 and 2004 in exchange for lucrative natural gas contracts.

Cheney was KBR’s CEO between 1995 and 2000, when he stepped down to run with George W. Bush. KBR and Halliburton pled guilty to the charges last year, and paid a whopping $579 million fine, but this latest development calls Cheney’s direct actions into question, and the Nigerians are dead set on getting justice.

We are filing charges against Cheney,” insisted Femi Babafemi, spokesman for Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission

I just find it amusing that the corrupt officials took the alleged $180 million bribe, then whined for more money and got $579 million on top of that and now they holler and want Dick Cheney to be arrested (probably will settle for money instead) and they are bringing charges when they took the bribe???

wow

Rose I am sure those bringing charges are not the ones who took the bribe. Just like in this country we have crooks and liers and honest people.

So does Interpol now go after Dick Cheney for a 180 million dollar corrupt bribery case and arrest him? Is the warrant issued? Or do they go after Julian Assange for some dumb condom law which would never be enforced on visitors to Sweden let alone their own prostitutes? Humm....I wonder which person Interpol will arrest?

But I would be willing to bet they aren't going after their own officials either. That is the part that bothers me. I'm not a Cheney fan but come on.

Even Hilary Clinton talked about how corrupt Nigeria's government was in 2009

It wont matter, Mr. Cheney is in a bunker in an undisclosed location, and if you attempt to serve him with a summons, he's likely to shoot you in the face.
