I think yes, it is possible to be grateful without seeming desperate. But only if it truly gratefulness.
Often people want to express their gratitude - but what they really want is to be acknowledged as having expressed gratitude. And that is needy. If you can say to someone: I am really grateful for X and the person doesn't acknowledge it, maybe laughs or walks away, and you are fine, then you have expressed genuine gratefulness, for gratefulness asks nothing of the receiver, but is complete in its own. just my 2cents |
