The years slowly go by.
Thinking back as I let out a sigh.
What I had expected life to be.
I thought back then I could see.

How my life would turn out.
But I was young and had no doubt.
But now reality is here.
Things did not end the way they appear.

I would have someone to share my life with.
For now that all seems like a myth.
For now it does seem.
As if that must have been a dream.

For now here I stand.
As I hold out my hand.
Wondering will anyone really see.
What love could be like with me?

Makes me wonder were did my life go.
And what do I really have to show.
Now my kids are grown.
And I sit here all alone.

This is not the way I thought it would be.
I always thought someone would be with me.
To always be there all through the years.
Together we could chase away the fears.

Together we would grow old.
And we would have each other to hold.
To be with the one that stole your heart.
For your love was so strong you would never part.

But instead I stand here alone.
I wonder if I had known.
That life is only a guessing game.
Would my choices still have been the same?

Most likely they would.
Guess I just thought they would last for good.
Just to have someone you love come your way.
And they would be there to stay.

I love it!
