Topic: A God Question..of sorts | |
---|---|
Ok all this God stuff is new to me so I approach things with the mind of a child and well I have questions so I am just gonna throw one out here....Ok like God created everything right, so like what created God?? Where did he/she/them come from?? In that giant vast emptiness of space something or someone had to create God...so what or who was it??

I don't really have that answer, and I'm not sure that anyone does. When I had that question, I was handed the book Memnoch the Devil by Anne Rice. It didn't exactly answer that question, but it challenged the way I was used to thinking about religion. Very good read. It gives a totaly different perspective. Hope I helped.

God was.
God is. God will be. He may have simply created us because He was bored. In the begining was the abyss and god moved upon that abyss. He was there because he is greater than that which we can perceive. |

Now you can call me close minded
God exists because He does. I don't have science to explain it. If He would not exist it would not be balance in this world. If He would not exist my life would not have sense. If He would not exist I would not love each one of you even if we don't agree in the less TLW |

MSD..I'll hit the library tomorrow and get it, thanks
AB...you know thats gonna make me think of more questions right?? TLW..I don't think of you as close minded at all...you explained it from your perspective and beliefs and you did so simply and with out use of too many big words which would just confuse me even more. Now why is it every time I ask a question, in the hopes of gaining knowledge of this path I am on someone always suggests I need a savin......thanks but I saved my self from lotsa stuff don't need help with that |

CCP dear
grab what is valuable for u honestly discard whatever u feel is not necessary but do it with honesty u will find the way At some point God will show it to u i can use too many words, but God is the only one who can show u the right way |

The more questions you ask the more questions you find.
The fun is not in the knowing of answers but in the quest for those answers. Life is lived when questing and the journey is all the sweeter for the next question along the way. |

Poet, the question you pose has been one of great debate. Even before the a vast number of people believed in a one god philosophy, every god had a creator in the form of another god, it was the only nature man knew and could understand.
Since the wide spread belief of one creator, man has opted to view that creator in several ways, basically (in my opinion)to rectify this idea that everything that is, must be, due to a creator and if there is only one than how did it come into existence. There has recently been shown to me a concept that allows for this to reconciliation to happen. In this view - pure energy which is thought to be ageless, has amassed some form of intelligence, I can only guess, through its ageless experiences of existence. It has the ability to 'create' and in doing, it can collect data or knowledge from many kinds of existence. When the creation, which is temporary, expires, that which is ageless, the pure energy force, returns to all that is simply, pure energy, now having added it's experience to the whole. Some believe that this whole that is pure energy, is God. That the essence of all that lives of all that exists is God. So there you go, an interesting mythology and for any who believe that we have a purpose beyond this existence, this is a good way to view eternity. (my opinions entirely) |

ChubbyCherub,
Good luck in your search for answers. You may find that the more you learn the more you want to know, and the more you know, the more there is to be picked at by others. Some will challenge you to broden your horizon(AB), some will do their best to explain it without bias and yet keeping to their beliefs,( TLW), some who are on the path of their own will offer good conversation and possible answers(me) in hopes of getting to the end of the journey, and then the ohhh so lovely forceful, press the issue, their religion is the only way to be saved from the fires of hell will show up. I hope this path you walk helps you find what your looking for. Truly, MSD P.s. I think the saving thing was put to give you a heads up. Some people can get visious and this is definanetly a conversation starter. Don't be surprised at what you get in this thread. The first couple will answer you, the next will answer others, and so on and so forth and eventually everyone will forget the question that was asked. |

I believe this is why some Natives call the Creator, Great Mystery. You're not alone in the question that's for sure.

ChubbyCherubPoet,
God hasn't explained this to us, probably because we can't understand. What God has told us is that He has always been the same. He has never changed, not even in the most minute detail. In our universe, nothing exists like that, so it's beyond our ability to comprehend what God is like. I have heard it theorized that God exists in multiple dimensions of time, but that's just a theory. We will know the truth or at least more of it in the next life. God wants us to know Him, because knowing Him means loving Him, but there is only so much that our finite minds can handle. |

The whole problem with the question has to do with the illusion of time. We think in terms of a past and a future. Cause and effect. But that’s not really how things work. That’s all just an illusion of our physical form.
There was never a time when you did not exist, and there will never be a time when you will cease to exist. You are the mystical spirit that you seek. There is no other. We have been blessed with Albert Einstein’s ingenious realization that time and space are interchangeable. This isn’t mere theory, these effects have actually been measured and are known to be the true nature of the universe in which we live. Think about it. There is NO DIFFERENCE between time and space. They are one in the same thing! They are interchangeable. Time can be converted into space, and vice versa. How many people REALLY understand this? I read once that maybe only four people in the whole world actually “get it”. I wonder if they counted me. (ha ha) Even most professors who teach Relativity and authors of books on the topic don’t seem to really understand this basic fundamental truth. Time is not what we thought it was. It’s not like a continuum that stretches infinitely into the past, and infinitely into the future. It’s not like a river that flows in one direction only. That is merely an effect caused by entropy, not time. Time does not move. Time is eternally now. There is no difference at all between this instantaneous point in time and eternity. They are one in the same thing. There are no clocks in heaven because there is no such thing as time. Entropy is a property of the physical world. And entropy is what gives us the illusion of the passing of time. When you die you will awaken in the same eternity that you were in before you were born. No time will have passed. Time is merely an illusion in this life. Consider this. It is a known fact that time slows down for fast moving objects. In fact, it slows down more and more the faster you move. If you were to observe the universe while you were moving fast with respect to it, then everything in the universe would appear to be happening on fast-forward. Think about it. If your time is slowing down then everyone else time would appear to be moving faster by you clock. The so-called “Twin Brother’s Paradox” proves that this actually happens and has been scientifically verified to be the true nature of our universe. Now imagine that you were to move faster and faster and faster. How fast can you go?. Nothing can move faster than the speed of light. That’s as fast as you can go. What would happen if you could move at the speed of light? Time would stand still for you! What would that mean? What would the rest of the universe look like to you? Would it appear to be frozen at a stand-still? Hardly. The faster you move, the slower your time passes, therefore if you continue to observe the universe as you move faster and faster the universe itself would appear to be on fast-forward. In other words, all your brother and sisters would be aging very quickly and appear to be rushing through their lives like crazy! If you could actually travel at precisely the speed of light, the entire universe would happen all one ‘once’ right before your very eyes. All of physical ‘eternity’ would pass by in what you perceive to be the blink of an eye. God is light. For god there is no time. For god the universe has already happened in the blink of an eye. It took no time to happen at all. It happened all at once. Hope this clears it all up for you Cherub. |

Abracadabra,
Time and space aren't the same thing and Einstein never suggested they were. Matter is frozen energy, but time and space are completely seperate and distinct dimensions. |

Got a degree do ya.
Why then does time slow as speed increases in the realm of light? Why then do they call it spacetime? Einstien not only suggested it in his last chapter he postualates another underlying force binding all forces and even hints at mathmatics that would unlock such a force. I personally think he found it but given what they did with his e=mcsquared fromula (A-bomb) felt we could not handle such power. |

Oh, please... I've seen this come up again and again in these discussion, and I've kept my mouth shut. What the hell do you people think the words "the same thing" really means????? I'm serious. It sounds stupid, but different people have slightly different concepts of what those three words -truly mean-.
To me, it means they are indistinguishable, identical. Time and space are NOT indistinguishable. Just because you can perform transforms on 4-d space time, and -mathematically- treat all four -mathematical dimensions- the same way in certain contexts, does not make time and space "the same thing". |
|
|
|
>> Why then does time slow as speed increases in the realm of light?
>> Why then do they call it spacetime? Time and space are -interconnected-. Huge difference (to me, in my use of language) from saying they are "the same thing". |
