Topic: Songs that are poems, | |
---|---|
isn't writing a form of art. so a person who writes music, isn't an artist. but then why do they call them music artists. i'm confused. >.< Sorry, music is art...and a lyric (song without music) is just expression. Poetry in and of itself is art because of the finesse and more classical approach to the writing itself. For example: Justin Bieber can't just read back one of his songs without music and call it art, of course, even if he puts it to music it is hardly called art - Bastardized poetry. Nine Inch Nails is a good example of poetry put to music, Nine Inch Nails songs without music is still poetry but without music it has no emotion which a poem has from the onset. Poetry - Emotional writing = Art Songs - Emotions = With music they become art |

haha.
this all sounds quite biased to me. i can't remember the name of the writer, but there's a lady who writes poems. which consist of a few random words put together. like; red can pop. and this is poetry. yet this; "and who do you think you are running 'round leaving scars collecting your jar of hearts and tearing love apart you're gonna catch a cold from the ice inside your soul." isn't poetry because it's a song. you're telling me there's no emotion in that. |

the bottom line, lyrics pay better.

I'm telling you that they are similiar only in context to how they are written. The lyric you just sampled can go multiple ways depending on the melody and beat it is put to. Perhaps you should read more poetry than that lady whose name you can't remember and compare it to that band that used to play on the radio all of the time. |
