my mom invited LOTS of people to our house for thanksgiving this year.....there are already 7 kids at home plus 2 adults and she invited grandmother, papa, aunt terri, "uncle" marty, roderick, emily, emilys guy andrew, caressa, brother and his pregnant girlfriend,8 month pregnant sister krista and her husband, and last but not least my other preganant sister amber and her 1 year old baby and her fiancee. the FUNNY thing is... my paremts are extremely racist and so is my papa!!! being raised in the deep south of mississippi kinda works out that way.. well my sister amber already has a half black baby and she is preganant by another black guy which is her fiancee and she is bringing her black fiancee with her to the house for thanksgiving... this is bound to be a very very interesting holiday to come!!!!! :):0

Ah, I wouldn't want to be there during this holiday. I just hope that whatever happens doesn't spell trouble for everyone else and the family get together.

she married into a family that had different views, and doesnt celebrate, so she adapted to that. they have a bigger family, that would have at least added about 10 more people too. sad2
but the sis where we have the holidays is great with decorations and cooking, so its usually an awesome time! :)

Melissa, your family certainly knows how to put the "fun" in "dysfunctional".

If Amber is over 18 and no longer needs your parents for financial support, then perhaps now would be a good time for her to make a clean break from them. Racism is one evil that Amber does not need to be dealing with.

We always had at least 25 people, most times more, for Thanksgiving and anyone(regardless of race or religion) that didn't have a place to eat or have family near were welcome.. The more the merrier and we never had leftovers..lol
Don't stress out over it, everyone will get along just fine..

So glad I don't celebrate these hoilday's and attend these gatherings where most are there out of an obligatory feeling...awkwardness, strained conversation and uncomfortableness, all attempting to be so congenial..

haha-that's what we use to say about my Dad!!!
He passed away last year so the holiday season will be quieter no doubt, but there's a crazy Dad story for nearly every year in my family-LOL!
We are crazy, but we love each other & really appreciate our time as a family, even if someone gets out of hand.
