So thats the secret

So thats the secret It is indeed - alcohol causes dehydration of the membranes around your brain (amongst others). If you take in extra fluids - especially prior to sleep - then you mitigate for the worse effects of the alcohol and can indeed avoid the headache bit of the hangover. Mind you - this does often mean that you're gonna wake up in the night with a bladder the size of a beach ball .... |

Mind you - this does often mean that you're gonna wake up in the night with a bladder the size of a beach ball .... A lot of people do the same thing I guess. There are other ways to turn down the mind enough to get to sleep though (apart from the obvious - although I suspect this works better for blokes ). Insomnia can be a very lonely experience - although with the rise of the internet - I guess it's not quite so isolating as it used to be - provided of course you are lucky enough to have access. When I was a kid I used to read every night - until my eyes got all heavy: (usually around an hour). Later on in life - when reality hit home I deployed that old standby alcohol - but this got almost boring; and as tolerance levels increased - it got more expensive (dammit!!)Over more recent years, should insomnia strike, I just have a spliff. Works a treat. But then we are all different. |

Would there be a particular point in your life that you wish you had back? I've been reflective which I do when I drink. I ended up doing the right thing for the wrong reasons............ no there is not a particular point in my life that I wish I had back. We make our decisions & choose our behaviors often for reasons not apparent to us then, or even now. That is what causes the waste of time that regret is. I am not drunk. I seldom drink. We can't change the past - to me, dwelling on the past is to preserve the memories - wishing to change them is useless garbage -jmho but a lot of people carry regret around with them a sock full of rocks & sand. I talk to them everyday |

I actually had to look up what a "spliff" means. You learn something new everyday.

Obviously not drunk enough to spill the real story, haha. Keep drinkin' Many points in time, MrNewark... but as has been said it is impossible to get them back... regret is a good sign to see in peeps, just don't hang there for too long. And don't hate yourself for being human. Go ahead and relive the moment... when it comes around again, you'll know what to do... |
