So is predisposition predestination?

If a child takes to the piano like a fish to water is this predestination or just predisposition or both?

So is predisposition predestination?

If a child takes to the piano like a fish to water is this predestination or just predisposition or both?

FROM A LITERAL (free will) PERSPECTIVE:

predisposition - disposition in an individual means that the individual exhibits a particular tendency.

'Predisposition' would suggest that an individual could exhibit a particular tendency due to their 'make-up' which we normally attribute as a responce to genetics.

predestination - A destination is the end point or end result of particular actions.

'Predestination' would be 'purposely' appointing a particular goal (destination) at which to arrive. Pre is making the setting the goal, and destination is the goal that the maker has decided to reach.

So in the case presented:

If an individual has a genetic inclination (is predisposed)to music and creating or reproducing music on an instrument, like a piano, that person may or may not purposely CHOOSE to set goals of reach a particular destination (fame, fortune, pleasure, or a job...)- 'predestination'.

Not all our predispositions are developed and not all people choose to pursue what seems to be a natural inclination.

FROM THE PHILISOPHICAL DEBATE PERSPECTIVE:

If the OP is questioning whether individuals are 'destined by providence' (by a supreme designer, controller...)to arrive at or achieve a particular outcome (goal)then the 'means to the end' may include a 'predisposition' which would tend to lead the individual in the right direction (seemingly) making all the choices that have been inherently implanted to meet the predestined outcome.

After that - there is the question of whether our entire life is 'predisposed' to scripted (cannot change) acts of volition (the means to the end), by a predestination attributed to mystical forces.

It's really the ages old question of free will vs predestination.

Is our volition (actions)a matter of choice toward an unknown outcome
OR
Are all our actions 'directed' by mystical forces to achieve the desired outcome (pre-destined)of that mystical force?

disposition ... sounds logical and has to get a yes if no people around that child are into the piano to have sparked a secret interest that was not previously noticed.

destination ... well as the above stated ... that means no choice in the trip and I highly doubt that one. Everyone does seem to have personal choice even when a parent is driving them in a certain direction ... some will fight it. some won't. Its still a personal choice. Unless you believe nobody has any choice in any matter and then ... well ... what's the point in any of this crap?
