I have faith that our father and Jesus christ, the son does and will continue to take care of us all. All we have to do is accept their love and gifts. I have faith that EVERYTHING in the bible is correct and i have faith God speaks to us telling us more then people can imagine.

"What does the Bible say about faith?"

Answer:
Hebrews 11:1 tells us that faith
is “being sure of what we hope for
and certain of what we do not see.”

Perhaps no other component
of the Christian life is more important
than faith. We cannot purchase it,
sell it or give it to our friends.
So what is faith and what role
does faith play in the Christian life?

The dictionary defines faith as “belief in,
devotion to, or trust in somebody
or something, especially without logical proof.”
It also defines faith as “belief in
and devotion to God.” The Bible has much more
to say about faith and how important it is.
In fact, it is so important that without faith
we have no place with God,
and it is impossible to please Him
(Hebrews 11:6).

Faith is belief in the one,
true God without actually seeing Him.

Where does faith come from?
Faith is not something we conjure up
on our own, nor is it something
we are born with, nor is faith a result
of diligence in study or pursuit
of the spiritual.
Ephesians 2:8-9 makes it clear
that faith is a gift from God,
not because we deserve it,
have earned it, or are worthy to have it.
It is not from ourselves; it is from God.
It is not obtained by our power
or our free will. It is simply given
to us by God, along with His grace and mercy,
according to His holy plan and purpose,
and because of that, He gets all the glory.

Why have faith? God designed a way
to distinguish between those who belong
to Him and those who don’t,
and it is called faith. Very simply,
we need faith to please God.

God tells us that it pleases Him
that we believe in Him
even though we cannot see Him.
A key part of
Hebrews 11:6 tells us that
“He rewards those who earnestly seek him.”

This is not to say that we have faith in God
just to get something from Him.
However, God loves to bless those
who are obedient and faithful.
We see a perfect example of this in

Luke 7:50. Jesus is engaged in dialog
with a sinful woman
when He gives us a glimpse of why
faith is so rewarding.
“Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”
The woman believed in Jesus Christ
by faith and He rewarded her for it.
Finally, faith is what sustains us
to the end, knowing by faith
that we will be in heaven with God
for all eternity.

“Though you have not seen him,
you love him; and even though
you do not see him now, you believe
in him and are filled
with an inexpressible and glorious joy,
for you are receiving the goal of your faith,
the salvation of your souls” (1 Peter 1:8-9).

Examples of faith.
Hebrews chapter 11 is known as
the “faith chapter” because
in it great deeds of faith are described.

By faith Abel offered a pleasing sacrifice
to the Lord (v. 4);

by faith Noah prepared the ark
in a time when rain was unknown (v. 7);

by faith Abraham left his home
and obeyed God’s command to go
he knew not where, then willingly
offered up his only son (vv. 8-10, 17);

by faith Moses led the children of Israel
out of Egypt (vv. 23-29);

by faith Rahab received the spies
of Israel and saved her life (v. 31).

Many more heroes of the faith
are mentioned “who through faith
conquered kingdoms, administered justice,
and gained what was promised;
who shut the mouths of lions,
quenched the fury of the flames,
and escaped the edge of the sword;
whose weakness was turned to strength;
and who became powerful in battle
and routed foreign armies” (vv. 33-34).
Clearly, the existence of faith
is demonstrated by action.

Faith is the cornerstone of Christianity.
Without demonstrating faith and trust in God
we have no place with Him. We believe
in God’s existence by faith.

Most people have a vague, disjointed notion
of who God is but lack the reverence
necessary for His exalted position
in their lives. These people lack the true faith
needed to have an eternal relationship
with the God who loves them.
Faith can fail us at times,
but because it is the gift of God,
given to His children, He provides times of trial
and testing in order to prove
that our faith is real and to sharpen
and strengthen it.

This is why James tells us to
consider it “pure joy”
because the testing of our faith produces
perseverance and matures us,
providing the evidence
that our faith is real (James 1:2-4).

Testing the Spirits

1 John 4:

1, Beloved, believe not every spirit,
but try the spirits whether they are of God:
because many false prophets are gone
out into the world.

2, Hereby know ye the Spirit of God:
Every spirit that confesseth
that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh
is of God:

3, And every spirit that confesseth not
that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh
is not of God: and this is that spirit
of antichrist,
whereof ye have heard that it should come;
and even now already is it in the world.

4, Ye are of God, little children,
and have overcome them:
because
greater is He
that is in you,
than he
that is in the world.

5, They are of the world:
therefore speak they of the world,
and the world heareth them.

6, We are of God: he that knoweth God
heareth us; he that is not of God
heareth not us.
Hereby know we the spirit of truth,
and the spirit of error.

7, Beloved, let us love one another:
for love is of God; and every one that loveth
is born of God, and knoweth God.

8, He that loveth not knoweth not God;
for God is love.

9, In this was manifested the love of God
toward us, because that God sent
His only begotten Son into the world,
that we might live through Him.

10, Herein is love,
not that we loved God, but that He loved us,
and sent His Son to be the propitiation
for our sins.

11, Beloved, if God so loved us,
we ought also to love one another.

12, No man hath seen God at any time.
If we love one another, God dwelleth in us,
and His love is perfected in us.

13, Hereby know we that we dwell in Him,
and he in us, because

He hath given us of his Spirit.

14, And we have seen and do testify
that the Father sent the Son
to be the Saviour of the world.

15, Whosoever shall confess that Jesus
is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him,
and he in God.

16, And we have known and believed
the love that God hath to us. God is love;
and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God,
and God in him.

17, Herein is our love made perfect,
that we may have boldness in the day of judgment:
because as He is, so are we in this world.

18, There is no fear in love;

but perfect love casteth out fear:
because fear hath torment.
He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

19, We love him, because He first loved us.

20, If a man say, I love God,
and hateth his brother, he is a liar:
for he that loveth not his brother
whom he hath seen, how can he love God
whom he hath not seen?

21, And this commandment
have we from Him,
That he who loveth God
love his brother also.

I don’t really know how can anybody get faith from the old Egyptian beliefs? The word GENISIS was created from the Isis book of the dead GEN in ancient Egypt meant dead and Isis was a goddess. They combined the two which spelled GENISIS now known as Geneses. Today all Christians still bow to the same old Egyptian gods…like ‘Horus” Amen or Armun – Ra- Re…Etc Few examples the word “Horizon” means Horus has Risen, Hours is another word that comes from the god Horus. I could go on the whole day. Even Jesus is a combination of two words Jewish god and Greek god Zeus= JeZeus= Jesus. People are buying into things that don’t exist. Putting your faith in some god which comes without proof is ludicrous. Put that faith and your money into fighting disease, feed starving children..etc

Like Richard Dawkins in his lecture “ Queerer than we can suppose? says “ matter flows from space to space to become momentarily you. Some people find that disturbing I find it thrilling.”

I think etymology is deeper than that,, perhaps 'Gods' have been named after the terms already existing to describe them?

Genesis is the Greek title of the first book of the Bible. It comes from the same stock as words such as gene, generation, genealogy and even words such as hydrogen and androgen, and was ultimately derived from the verb gignesthai, meaning to be born or to become.

Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase.
Martin Luther King, Jr.

In faith there is enough light for those who want to believe and enough shadows to blind those who don't.

Yes but you are talking about English translations…but you neglect to recognize that the word gen existed in its entirely different context used by Egyptians. gen meant dead and that’s the end of that.

John 4:2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God:
Every spirit that confesseth
that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh
is of God:

We know that these words of John on clearly false. There have been many historical examples of human spirits who have confessed that Jesus Christ is lord, yet those same human spirits have committed atrocities in the name of Jesus and this religion.

3, And every spirit that confesseth not
that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh
is not of God: and this is that spirit
of antichrist.

I personally feel that there are plenty of examples of people who do not accept that Jesus was the son of God, yet it's clear to me that these very same people are clearly closer to God than many religious people who demand that Jesus is the son of God.

By the way, if the argument here is that John is referring to "spirits" and not human spirits, then his whole writing is utterly moot because I've never met a "spirit" that wasn't human. Unless of course, animals have spirits. bigsmile

I would argue that John necessarily had to be speaking about human spirits by his writings. In his first verse he clearly states:

John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit,
but try the spirits whether they are of God:
because many false prophets are gone
out into the world
.

Since he's referring to prophets here he must be referring to human spirits.

What John is preaching here is the standard Christian bigotry. He's simply attempting to claim that anyone who refuses to acknowledge Jesus as the Son of God is automatically an outcast as far as his religious beliefs are concerned.

He renounces everyone who rejects the idea that Jesus is of God, and proclaims that only those who "confess" that Jesus is God can be pure.

It's just the standard brainwashing scheme that all the Abrahamic religions are infamous for. "My God is better than your God!"

This was important to the people back then because they relied on their Gods more than anything else. They were still in a mental state of believing that disease was an 'evil curse', as were other natural disasters or drought, etc. They believed that all of these things were controlled by "God". So it was really important to be sure you worship the right "God".

They also believed that people could be possessed by evil spirits. In fact, since Jesus was said to have cast seven evil spirits out of Mary Magdalene, then anyone who believes in Jesus must also necessarily believe in the boogieman (whether they like it or not), because demonic boogie-men come with the religion.

You can't very well believe in Jesus and not believe in evil spirits that can come and possess you. You need to believe in both if you want to cling to this ancient medieval fable.

Or if held as a virtue, faith describes belief in spite of overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

Either way all "faith" is faith in a source.
