Topic: first "weed" commercial? | |
---|---|
take a wild guess what state this is in...cali does seem to be the first in things like this...but, like all politics, it has a hidden adgenda. The lady that runs the "pharmacy" that sells the weed says it's not to get people high, it's get people well. i didn't know weed got people well, it just helps them cope. then she says shes against proposition 19, to legalize weed in cali. well duh, she's outa business if they do...
here is a link to the video http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/health/2010/08/31/dnt.ca.medical.marijuana.ad.KTXL?hpt=T2 SACRAMENTO — Sacramento's FOX affiliate KTXL "FOX40" has been known for delivering many firsts to the Sacramento area. The station was first with a satellite news truck, first on social media websites Twitter and Facebook, and first with local, national and global breaking news. Monday morning will see another first -- the first paid advertisement for a medical marijuana dispensary, thought to be the first time an ad for marijuana has ever aired on mainstream television. The thirty-second ad, paid for by Sacramento-based "CannaCare" and produced by KTXL, shows various people delivering testimonials on the benefits of marijuana when used for medicinal purposes. Text at the bottom of the advertisement indicates that marijuana can be used in the relief of many diseases and illnesses, including diabetes, HIV, Hepatitis C and hypertension among others. Marijuana is not shown in the advertisement, and the word "marijuana" is never used. Instead, patients and the ad itself refer to pot as "cannabis." more here http://www.fox40.com/news/headlines/ktxl-news-potad0830,0,5605124.story |

If y' think back to an earlier 'moment in time', you'll recall ads that said four out of five doctors chose Camels or Chesterfields or Lucky Strike or Pall Malls - said they were a 'healthy smoke' ... Weed's just more 'smoke', and they're lying by making a false extended analogy. I don't think I ever heard or read an ad with any of those 'actor doctors' trying to sell the message that cigarettes 'get people well' - even actors knew they couldn't lie their way around that one any more than they could sell the fiction that cigarettes 'freshen your breath'. |

They are saying that weed does have some health benefits...IDK,i'm not a doctor... but i like weed, so i'm bias on this. i feel there are worse drugs out there... even alcohol is worse IMO. |

I tried weed during my 'experimental' phase in the '60s, but it did nothing for me other than make me puke in slow-mo once ... I didn't consider that a particularly good time. I just prefer to deal with life sans 'chemical joy' for 'assisted living' ...

make me puke in slow-mo once ... I didn't consider that a particularly good time. Well, that must have been interesting. Marijuana is no more harmful than alcohol and we'd save A LOT of money by legalizing. It's a huge waste of time for the law enforcement and the court system to deal with these people. Rather than spending money fighting something to trivial, let's tax it and make some money. That's my opinion. |

I don't have a problem legalizing weed or prostitution ... that way the 'street price' can be regulated and taxed, and the competition can be eliminated just by undercutting their profit structure ... it's the 'Wal-Mart' business model applied to societal problems ...
I just don't want people DRIVING while stoned ... |

Marijuana and prostitution are moral issues and should not be illegal. They should definitely be regulated and controlled. No one wants prostitution going on in front of their home. Well....maybe Moe does, but that's a whole different thread. |

I'd say legalize and tax it.
Require ID and record who buys it. If someone is caught selling to minors, with enough to be sold on the blackmarket or found with weed with no tax stamp, give 'em the death penalty. |
|
|
|
It should be legal for adults... Even though I don't use it (anymore), I'll vote that way if ever given the opportunity because the penalties are so much worse than the offense.
It's the ultimate hypocrisy for anyone to sit back and imbibe on the cocktails or whatever and then have a problem with legalizing marijuana... imo |

I have no problem with legalizing it for the reasons stated, as long as it has the same laws as alcohol. No driving with high, no one under 21, etc.
