I think if the deception is to gain in an ill-gotten way ...

Hurt or malign another ...

It is evil, straight up ...

Lies ... They never come to ANY good!

Then, there is not telling all the truth ... The saying in Eire goes:

"Tell the sweet truth" ... Meaning don't hurt, omit that which is not necessary and would harm ...

Somehow, ya mix all that and speak/live carefully ...

Lies are just lies, no matter what the colour scheme ... ill ... UGLINESS in ACTION!!!

So you think you should be rewarded for making someone feel bad when it was not necessary? It comes back to intent.

But is it really?

Isn't it more like convenience?

Or isn't it more selfish? If you feel you have deceptively made someone else feel good, you are technically doing it so you feel better, right?

Interesting angle but I am not sure how one deceptively makes another feel good? Just me personally, if I give a 10 to a man down on his luck it actually makes me feel bad........smokin

Intent.
The whole story.
Honorable intent=no harm, no foul.
Dishonorable=Lie. Black, white, gray.

^^^ ... Hmmmm ... Yes, this somewhat expresses well my interpretation - partly, also ...

Live w/ integrity ... Strive to do all with love ...

That said ... I do think good, honourable intentions are still defined by truthfulness ...

The High Road is not easy ...

Take Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny ... Now, that was not fun lying , nor being them ...

No do overs ... If there were, doubt I'd do it again ... HATED lying to my daughter!!!

STILL not over it, though she has forgiven me ... laugh

I just wanted to give her what my brothers had stolen from me as a possibility w/ 'the truth' ...

We live we learn ...

When I knew better, I did better ... Maya Angelou

when a lady ask if a dress makes her look fat she wants to know the truth, or at lest i do when i ask. if you tell me a white lie, and say "oh no you look sexy." I'm going to be pissed when I find out that I look like a moo moo cow walking down the street. thats why i don't tell those little harmless white lies....

if that's couth then I'm sorry that i don't want people to believe something that's isn't true.

To me a white lie is innocent in nature and only fudges the details. To tell a child their dog went to doggy heaven instead of telling them it was mauled to death by a wild animal is an acceptable lie to me. Sometimes the truth is unnecessary if it only causes pain and the outcome is the same regardless.

Yanno ... spock

Speakin' of 'harmless white lies' and Santa Claus ...

I'm sure mythology began as lil lies we dreamed up to soothe ourselves ...

That turned into all this planetary divisive, Religious MESS!

2nd thought reflections ... Yeah, I'm totally rulin' out 'good intentions' ...

TOO subjective ... Who gets to decide???

'Good Intentions' got us into this worldwide schlock of a feud!!!

FAIL ...

Why are they called "white lies"?

What is a white lie?

Does it count as a lie?

If we find out that the lie was a "white lie" are we then relieved and glad that it was only a "white" lie?
