Topic: GOP Forced To Apologize After Convention-Goers Vandalize An | |

"Although Maine is known for its two moderate Republican senators — Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins — last week’s state GOP convention showed the growing influence of far-right activists. An “overwhelming majority of delegates” voted to “scrap the the proposed party platform and replace it with a document created by a group of Tea Party activists.” Maine Politics called it “a mix of right-wing fringe policies, libertarian buzzwords and outright conspiracy theories.” The Republican convention was at the Portland Expo, but participants went to the nearby King Middle School to hold their caucuses. While there, they went through eighth-grade teacher Paul Clifford’s items, opened sealed boxes, stole a prized poster, and vandalized the room with Republican slogans. Some details on what they did: – For seven years, Clifford has had “a collage-type poster depicting the history of the U.S. labor movement” on his classroom door. He uses it “to teach his students how to incorporate collages into their annual project on Norman Rockwell’s historic ‘Four Freedoms’ illustrations.” When Clifford returned to his classroom on Monday, after the GOP caucuses, the poster was gone; in its place was a sticker reading, “Working People Vote Republican.” – Republicans opened a “closed cardboard box they found near Clifford’s desk” and later objected to the fact that it contained copies of the U.S. Constitution donated to the school by the American Civil Liberties Union. – After the caucuses, “rank-and-file Republicans who were upset by what they said they had seen in Clifford’s classroom” began calling the school, objecting to student art they had seen and a sticker on a filing cabinet reading “People for the American Way — Fight the Right.” http://thinkprogress.org/2010/05/14/maine-classroom-gop/ They have a lot more to apologize for...their paranoia based agendas make them look more like out-of-control brats. |

Teachers should keep their political beliefs to themselves. Their responsibility is to educate children not indoctrinate them. If our schools were the best in the world and its students the best taught in the world, then some non educational opinionated discussion could be tolerable. Unfortunately, our schools are not the best in the world and our students rank appalling low for the amount of money that is spent. There is a reason why we have to import doctors, nurses and engineers from other countries. It's because progressives like this idiot prefer to push an agenda rather than do their job. Be proud.. |

Yeah uh, we certainly can't have the Constitution taught in our school systems especiallly if the ACLU donated the documents...that'd be too political. ![]() Nothing excuses the vandalism....is that what you are defending here? Eh? The issue is the crimes of the GOP/T-baggers commited not the education system's problems...Norman Rockwell the American traitor?...egads man! |

If the ACLU is providing the copies of the Constitution, you can bet your asss it's to point out that - just like 'The UN' sees it - it's just a 'charter of negative freedoms' ... it only tells the little skulls full of mush what government CAN'T do to 'em ... It's INDOCTRINATION by a Leftist Progressive 'teacher' ...
This is what extremely grieves us, that a man who never fought Should contrive our fees to pilfer, on who for his native land Never to this day had oar, or lance, or blister in his hand. ~ Aristophanes - Wasps, 422 B.C. |

The progressive way.. haha
I didn't notice any mention of the history of the progressive way. You know, sterilization for the undesirables. lecturing in Nazi Germany about eugenics and population control.. I think we could probably do without the progressive way.. Here is the mission statement from the authors of the "sticker" that was on the idiots cabinet.. People for the American Way Our Mission and Vision People For the American Way has been working for a fairer, freer, more progressive America for over 25 years. People For the American Way is dedicated to making the promise of America real for every American: Equality. Freedom of speech. Freedom of religion. The right to seek justice in a court of law. The right to cast a vote that counts. The American Way. Our vision is a vibrantly diverse democratic society in which everyone is treated equally under the law, given the freedom and opportunity to pursue their dreams, and encouraged to participate in our nation’s civic and political life. Our America respects diversity, nurtures creativity and combats hatred and bigotry. We believe a society that reflects these constitutional principles and progressive values is worth fighting for, and we take seriously our responsibility to cultivate new generations of leaders and activists who will sustain these values for the life of this nation. Our operational mission is to promote the American Way and defend it from attack, to build and nurture communities of support for our values, and to equip those communities to promote progressive policies, elect progressive candidates, and hold public officials accountable. http://www.pfaw.org/about-us/our-mission-and-vision |

Could it be the word progressive? Have you been so influenced by public media manipulation that the only frame of reference you have for that word is as a new BUZZWORD? Seriously what is it about this mission statement that leads you to endamnify Pfaw? |

They have a long and distinguished history of being advocates of eugenics, sterilization, population control, and support of totalitarian regimes that implement any of the above techniques. Look it up and try to refute it. Buzzword that.. |
