Hello. I would like some advice on cool things to do in London ( night life included) Ive been already but going back. I also plan on taking the rail to Paris, but don't know French. I need tips! Paris..just like all major cities in Europe are bi or tri-lingual. What that means is, you go anywhere in these capitals..most people and businesses speak german-english-french so not speaking french would be only a problem if you'd end up in some small town or a closed group community. |

In England ... SO much ... I fancy all the stone circles, Stonehenge, Glastonbury, Bath, the music festivals, St Pauls, The Big Ferris Wheel, the cemeteries, the museums, walks through the massive parks, the markets, Kings Road, Sloan Square, Camden Towne Flea Market, the East End, the docks, Soho, the Tower of London, ghost walks, Covent Garden, Carnaby St, the houseboats, the locks, the pubs, the music ... Travel to the castles ... ONLY thing that suckzzzz is the food - eat international fare ...
The best part of the UK is actually the Celtic realms ... Cornwall, Wales, Scotland, Eire ... Devon is also to die for! Paris is just so easy to walk and discover ... The Louvre is not to be missed, of course ... Same goes for the Moulin Rouge! I found the Parisians to be incredibly kind and sporting, despite the rep - and I also speak zero French! Be real and they will return the love!!! Be great if ya could scoot to the South of France and the MED, best part ... HAVE a BLAST - Shouldn't be hard to do ... ... !!! |

When you're in Paris, by far the best way to travel is by the metro (underground system).
When you go to the ticket desk, ask for 'un carnet' (pronounced 'un car-nay). This is about 12 tickets (?). It's much cheaper to buy them this way than individually. If you use the above ground train, you buy your ticket, go to the platform, then you need to look for a machine in which you have to insert your ticket to have it stamped. Failure to 'composte' your ticket can lead to a heavy fine. Oh, and wear really comfortable shoes! There are a lot of steps when negotiating the metro. Must sees: Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Sacre Coeur, flea market at Porte de Clignancourt, The Louvre, the palace at Versailles, Musee d'Orsay (this is where all of the impressionist painters works are displayed). |
