I'm planning to move out to Burns, Oregon in the next year or two. I don't know much about the town. I've done research on it & everything, but not much really turns up about it. I joined this site to talk to some people that live there, who would know what it was like there. But so far I can't even find any people from Burns who have been online in a while. Anyone know anything about Burns, Oregon? I want to know everything there is to know about it!

I Googled it.
It is way over there >>>>>>>>.
I am on the Oregon coast, due west of Salem.
Why are you moving where you know no one?
Or is that it?

It's hard to explain. I mainly just want a change of location. The town I live in right now has some bad crime & drug usage, especially with teens. And I really dont want to be around any of that. Especially when I'm living out on my own. I've tried googling Burns too. All it really said is that it's a small rural town. I'm not sure if that means it has alot of ranches & farms or if it'll just be a bunch of country lands, but that's kinda what I'm looking for. I'm hoping to have a horse ranch someday. Plus, I have alot of family in California. If I lived in Oregon I'd be able to go see more often.

The not knowing anyone part does creap me out a little bit. But maybe it'll do me some good. It'll be a fresh start to meet new people.

I have one where I am right now. But I haven't be able to look for one out in Burns yet. I'm not planning to move out there for another year or two. It's driving me crazy how hard it is to find stuff out about the town though. I'm hoping it's not so small that there wont be able job openings.

Burns is always the hottest during the summer, and the coldest during the winter- at least that's what it seems like when I'm watching the local weather.

White Christmas? I'm all for that! LoL

It couldnt be any hotter than it is in the town I'm currently in. It hit 103 today, & hasnt been much better for the last few months.

The heat shouldn't be a problem for you then.

Have you been to Burns?

A couple of times years ago. It feels very different than the rest of Oregon, has a very deserty feel- which is why it's weather is the way it is. Seemed like a nice little town.

I've been there a couple of times. It's pretty remote and the town only has about 3,000 people...I got there on a Monday and the only restaurant was closed on Mondays! There's a casino near by and I attended the Desert Dash Motorcycle Rally there; that was a lot of fun but it sure looks like it could get boring there! Employment could be difficult so it would probably be best if you can go and check it out before you pack up and move there! If you have time you should make a big loop around Oregon and then decide what area might fit you the best! Good luck!

You should offer a LoopAround tour :-)

She'd be safe with Mr. Nice Guy here! Sigh....what a curse that has been! :-) I did a LoopAround tour of Oregon with a nice person from Iowa back in February...had a great time and saw parts of Oregon that I probably wouldn't had gone to by myself! We even dropped down into the Redwoods National Forest in Northern California once we hit the Oregon Coast! Fortunately Mama Nature was kind to us and never got rained on! Unheard of in Oregon in February!

Oh yeah, I forgot to ask, do any of you know if there's a website to look at apartments or houses to rent in Burns? I've been looking, but I'm not having any luck so far.
