Here's where all the li'l 'Hopey-McChangey' types can crawl out of the woodwork to 'defend' the 'policies' of the command-and-control Marxist policies that 'The UN' has inflicted on the American economy - with disastrous effect. C'mon - defend your boy ... but it'll just be one more instance of defending the indefensible. C'mon, November ...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/Time-to-admit-Obamanomics-has-failed-1008050-100154469.html Time to admit Obamanomics has failed August 8, 2010 It's no coincidence that Christina Romer, chairwoman of the White House Council of Economic Advisers, announced her retirement the day before Friday's brutal unemployment report. With 131,000 more jobs lost in July, and downward revisions of 97,000 for the previous two months, it's easy to see why she would start looking for the exits. Romer is best known for drafting the February 2009 report "The Job Impact of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan," which the White House used as an ammunition belt in the fight to gain passage of its $862 billion economic stimulus bill (the actual cost of which exceeds $1 trillion when interest is included). Romer predicted that following passage of the stimulus bill, unemployment would plateau below 8 percent last fall and by this month register at 7 percent. That's not close enough for government work, as unemployment stands at 9.5 percent today. It would be higher except that hundreds of thousands of frustrated job seekers have given up looking for new jobs and dropped out of the labor force. Predictably, the stimulus bill has proven to be an extraordinary waste of borrowed money that has failed to create jobs, generate economic growth or do much of anything other than line the pockets of White House political allies. That and give $308 million in subsidies to BP before the Gulf oil spill disaster, and subsidize a study on what happens when monkeys snort coke. Add Obama's determination to raise everybody's taxes by allowing the Bush cuts from 2001 and 2003 to expire Jan. 1, 2011, and it's easy to why banks, businesses and consumers are hoarding trillions of dollars that could otherwise spur economic growth. And we haven't even addressed the destructive effect on economic growth of Obama's nationalization of major portions of the economy, including the banks, health care and the auto industry. The economy is stalling, unemployment seems stuck at European levels of idleness, the federal deficit and the national debt are at historic highs, public confidence in Congress is at its lowest-ever level and big majorities of Mainstream Americans say Obama has the country on the wrong path. Obamanomics has failed miserably and it's time for everybody in this town to admit it so we can move on. |
facts, for BALANCE
the last fiscal year under BUSH was 2009 2010 is OBamas first fiscal year, from the 2010 fiscal budget, pg 60 'Allow the Bush Tax Cuts for Households Earning More Than $250,000 to Expire. In the last Administration, those at the very top enjoyed large tax breaks and income gains while almost everyone else struggled and real income for the middle class declined. Our Nation cannot afford to continue these tax cuts, which is why the President supports allowing those tax cuts that affect families earning more than $250,000 a year to expire and committing these resources to reducing the deficit instead. This step will have no effect on the 98 percent of all households who make less than $250,000.' .....and an opinion thrown in and wouldnt you know,, that would affect HIS family and not mine,,,so much for bugie,,, |
Sure you can take more of their money to pay for BS spending programs, but that isn't going to solve the fning problems that EVERYONE is facing.. Tax and Spend does not work. Government cannot fix the problem. These bunch of dimwits are only exacerbating the problems.. It's pretty obvious since nothing they have said over the last 18 months has turned out to be right.. |
It is not. Direct taxation is strictly forbidden by the Constitution, and indirect taxation is to be handled by the States. Anything in the USC (United States Code) to the contrary is unconstitutional and not valid law. |
It seems I read that 110,000 jobs lost last month were actually temporary census jobs.
Really, it doesn't matter what party is in office. I don't think I've heard of the government tightening it's own belt since Dwight Eisenhower. The government hasn't had been without a debt since Andrew Jackson. Even during Clinton's so called "budget surplus," the government didn't do anything to pay down the debt. Durning "W's" budget surplus (you know when he had Bill's left over budget, that first year of his first term), he just handed out refund checks. Truth is, we've had a grossly irresponsible government for more years than anyone can recollect. All of these social welfare programs just keep getting bigger, our war debt never gets paid off, and the burden keeps getting passed on to the next generation. We forgive debt to other nations, then foolishly borrow more money. We gave half a billion dollars to Pakistan just the other day, and they are supporting our enemies in the war in Afgahistan. Then gave them another $10 mil in aid after the flooding over there. Where does this logic come from? Give aid to our enemies, become indebted to a country that we already buy everything from (thus closing more industry here), and then expand an already over-burdened government budget by promising free health to anyone who wants it (even if they aren't from here). I mean WTF? If I ran my business like that, well, I'd need a government bailout. |
The bottom line is government meddling is what caused this economic meltdown. Just by simply increasing the meddling isn't going to solve anything, it's just making it worse.
If this were a truly free market economy based on production and not an over regulated nanny state based on consumer consumption and debt we would have never been in this situation. We can continue down this path of fiscal russian roulette where artificially manipulated bubbles burst every 8 or 10 years or we can pay the price now, and hope that future generations actually have a republic to call their own. And as for the voters deciding, you might as well load 5 out of 6 chambers and hope for the best.. I bet if you asked 100 people who the Speaker of the House is you might get 15 that actually know.. Good luck with that.. |
