Catch any more hogs Viv? No, I was with a stressed out calf last night..but he died. What happened? We had to bring some of them up so we could pen a cow that let her calf die..was taking her to the sale..the calf got seperated from his mama and spazzed out..went down and we couldn't get him back up..The was a BIG bull calf, a month old. gees does that kind of thing happen often?Must be really sad to see when it does. Not too often, but more than one would think. I was just sick about it. I had to have my pup put down too...been a hellofa week. Man ((((((Viv ))))) It sure sounds like it. What happened to your pup? Started chasing pickups...got ran over.. I think you have earned the right to eat the whole peach cobbler in one sitting!! I totally agree! But....but you're bring the ice cream!!

I do love my meat, especially Iowa corn feed beef, but, I have to see it as a hunk of meat and not think of it as an animal. Goes for fish and wild game too. I cannot eat it if I see it being cleaned/butchered. Just give me the hunks of red meat. In that respect, I could become a vegetarian real easy if I thought about it too much. You have to remember...that is what they are for...to eat..by us or another animal..it's the food chain..they, the predators...would eat you in a minute and never think twice about it. Hear about that bear killing the campers in Montana yesterday? Yeah, talked about it on here last night too. One survivor was a visitor from Toronto.

Thanks Deb..but it's ok..I live on a ranch..it's part and parcel of everyday life here..losing that calf was uncalled for..but the hands didn't know what to do for him and thought he was better..but in truth he was in shock..I thought he was ok because that is what they said..so I went to the cattle sale and did a few other things befor I found him.. Boy, I'll bet you were mad at those hands! I would be! They did the best they could under the circumstances..They really thought it was better and returned it to his mama...but he went down again..and his mama left him.
