Activist: NAACP tolerates racism when it's beneficial

Dr. Alveda King (King for America)Dr. Alveda King, niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., is responding to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People's (NAACP) accusations that Tea Party activists tolerate bigotry.

The civil rights organization also approved a resolution last week condemning racism within the political movement. The debate was mostly closed to the public, but Dr. Alveda King, director of African-American outreach for Priests for Life, has an open response.

"NAACP, you're still supporting Planned Parenthood, which is one of the most racist organizations in America today, and they have proven that over and over," she points out.

Planned Parenthood sign"Their founder [Margaret Sanger] certainly thought that black people were like human weeds that needed to be exterminated. So [the NAACP's] support of Planned Parenthood is just saying that they are ready to renounce racism when it's inconvenient to them but to support racism when it's beneficial to them," King adds.

According to the documentary Maafa 21, Planned Parenthood was founded to reduce the minority population. It reports that 36 percent of abortions are done to kill unborn black babies.

The pro-life advocate calls on the NAACP and the rest of America "to renounce racism and love each other as brothers and sisters." Priests for Life's Freedom Rides begin Friday in Birmingham to draw attention to what King considers to be the biggest civil rights issue of this century: abortion.

should be interesting, as interesting as lumping all tea partiers together with the racist ones, or all mexicans in with the ones who come illegally, or all Americans in with the President, or all panthers in with the actions of three, or considering opposing the constitution because of some of those racist slaveowners who signed it,,,,

old argument,, doubtful it will build much steam, individual actions and choices are a reflection of the individual not EVERY group they belong to or ANY group they belong to,,,,unless it is a group mandate or policy

Oddly NAACP also stands for 'Ni@@ers Aren't Always Colored People'. This line was inspired by a black comedian of all people.

The fact is the NAACP is a bigoted and racist organization. How many whites have they helped? (0)

They help Hispanics when it serves their purpose. I am amazed this organization is allowed to exist! they do more to undermine equality than help it. Also Dr. MLK's daughter is just like Jessie Jackson trying to parasite a living off of Dr. ML King's legacy.

She is pro life? Good for her. Maybe she can raise all those illegitimate children herself. That would save us taxpayers a lot of money.

It is easy for sh*theads like her to spout all that good crap when they are not the ones having to foot the bill for her beliefs!

more evidence that people believe propoganda instead of researching,,,

there are HUNDREDS of thousands of NAACP members nationwide, NAACP members join forces to support issues like saving teachers jobs, extending unemployment benefits, help small business, protect consumers from predatory lending, national healthcare, attacking child obesity, greater accessibility to college, the youth promise act (to help keep youth out of gangs),,,and a list of other issues that are not race specific and do, indeed, also help white people

thank you for this. I have lost track of the King family in recent years. Funny though. I used Planned Parenthood sevices a lot as a young person without health insurance for exams and BCP. Never thought of it as racist, nor ever heard that before - and I have been around since it's inception. Perhaps 36% of the abortions sought there were from Blacks as PPH is found primarily in large urban centers is it not?

Yes. I also recall some of the bickering going on between the sclc, hte panthers and the naacp in hte old days - so what else is new???laugh

You're welcome.
Margaret had racist views but that doesnt make the whole organization and its current organizers racists. I just think its a divisive tactic to draw away from more important(current) issues.

The truth about targeting for abortions.

Authorized in 1965, Medicaid is a joint federal-state program that provides the nation's low-income population with basic health and long-term care coverage. Medicaid is the largest health care program in the United States, and covers more than 50 million people.1 Under Medicaid states receive federal matching funds to provide health care for low-income individuals.

Medicaid coverage is critical to the health care of millions of women. More than 16 million women receive their basic health and long-term coverage through Medicaid.2 In 2003, Medicaid covered one in ten women and one in five low-income women.3 In 2003, 11.5% of women of reproductive age were covered by Medicaid.4

Currently, all state Medicaid programs must cover pregnant women who meet the federal income requirements. Many states have elected to cover women with incomes that are higher than the federal requirements. However, this coverage is not without limits, and abortion services are among the provisions that are most stringently regulated.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

They didn't encourage or seek out anyone to get abortions.

Those who wanted abortions had to go to the required counseling sessions before they were either approved or denied.

Id say SANGER wanted to target certain groups, which were at the time widely considered 'tainted' (including negros,,)

In “A Plan for Peace,” Sanger suggested Congress set up a special department to study population problems and appoint a “Parliament of Population.” One of the main objectives of the “Population Congress” would be “to raise the level and increase the general intelligence of population.” This would be accomplished by applying a “stern and rigid policy of sterilization and segregation [in addition to tightening immigration laws] to that grade of population whose progeny is already tainted, or whose inheritance is such that objectionable traits may be transmitted to offspring'

by circumstantial evidence, which convicts many an individual in these states,, the eugenicists who helped her organize the Negro Project, her continued references which linked poor and feeble in the same sentence, and the popular sentiment of the time of racial inferiority
