I want to ask you a question. its regarding termination of an accout. On facebook deactivation of account does not actually mean deleting everything regarding the info of the account. As they only remove the profile. all photo's and info is kept by facebook. and that to me is not safe. and not honest. I have noticed the same feature of deactivation of your account on this site, my question is, if I wanted to perminantly delete my account from this site thats deleting everything, all data, everything that is to do with me or about, does deactivation mean the same thing as facebook?.

Or does it mean, that when you actually deactivate your account, they perminantly delete all info so that no info is left on the database about me on this site? Please answer with honesty, thank you.

Deactivating means that the member can chose to reactivate their account if they decide to later on.

We advise members that are deactivating to remove all pictures and profile information before deactivating.

A deactivated profile won't show in searches and will be removed from any friend's list that you might be on, unless you decide to return, then you will reappear.

Also, unchecking the boxes in your mail settings will ensure that you won't receive emails/notices from Mingle2.
Hope this helps,

Kim

Deactivation does not delete the account, it just makes it "inactive." This is so that you can come back and reactivate later if you decide to do so.

At this time, there is no procedure for members to permanently delete their accounts.

In other words, you still keep info of the account? Please dont think im stirring trouble about this. but if people want to delete account, that means they dont want to come back to the site in the future. So why do sites like this and facebook. has the need to keep info, when they were asked for deletion of the acount? you think thats fair. I am not happy the way you have moved the thread, as people do have the right to know, and trust a site. by removing the thread, it has im sure now put doubt and untrust of this site. you could of still ansered with honesty. and least then the members dont feel the need to distrust this site. Again im not to cause trouble. but When I want to delete something, I want to know that all info is deleted perminantly, and no ino is kept, incase i decide to come back. Sorry that does not help. and I will look into this matter more. and Im sorry that your answer did not answer me at all.

Again in otherwords certain ammount of my info is kept? I if i delete, i dont want it back. I want to know if i delete something, I dont want to go back to it. So this does not answer my question. I feel thats unsafe. like facebook. its wrong, if someome want to delete account, then all info should be deleted with it. no info should be kept. if i did decide to come back, I would have to re register, then I would put the info back in. to me, this is unfair, it should say perminantly delete account, not deactivate

deactivating gives members more control of their own accounts. The site won't send out emails, as long as the boxes in your mail settings are unchecked.

We have many members that deactivate and later decide to reactivate later on for many reasons.

I think it is very fair. I was gone for 7 months over a year ago and came back.

No one sees you in searches, etc. It is like deleting your account with the option to return, if you wish.

This is the way our site is set up and I don't think that will change anytime soon

you say its like deleting, BUT its not. I want to perminantly delete. that means delete all info, no info kept on your database. thats deleting. Look if I wanted to come back as you keep on saying, wouldnt it be easier just to rejoin? But I dont when I delete an account, I want to know that all info has gone. not account inactive. thats not delete, come on, be fair.

As I have explained, that is not how this site works.

does that make any difference? as your info on the database is kept? come on, people. Be fair. im not that stupid. if i delete from the profile, its only going from the profile, not from the database, like Facebook, this site makes copies of the info. now come on, Deletion of an account, should mean, that, all info from a profile, and copied from the site, should all go. not kept. incase I want to come back.

The answers given above, should suffice. If you erase the profile before deactivating, the information most certainly is erased, and non retrievable.

I'm closing this topic.
