I am terrified of heights!scared
I thought if I started rock climbing I could get over it. I climbed a couple times indoors and felt quite accomplished in conquering my fear. I signed up for a rock climbing class and yesterday was my first time climbing outdoors, I got not even half way up and thought I was going to die. I hate this, how can I get over my fear?

I too hate heights yet love living on the 17th floor and I flew in a glider last summer. Keep at it, fear can be fun as long as it's your decision and your not coerced into doing it.

It's not the falling I'm afraid of. It's the sudden stop.laugh

 That reminds me of something my first boss in aviation told me when I confessed to him that I was terrified of flying. He said...it's not the long fall...it's the sudden stop at the end of it that will kill ya!!! bigsmile

I kinda felt like I had to climb because it's part of being in the class, but honestly the whole area we were climbing in freaked me out; it was pretty steep and the ground was rocks that were sliding out from under us with every step.scared scared
I figure that I can only do better, but I'm worried for next week.

Have you thought about hiring a 'designated climber' ... ?

Every time I step out on that balcony it freaks me out but I go anyway. I have always wanted to go climbing and I think that will be a new goal. I am supposed to go to the CN Tower in Toronto soon and that is going to be a huge event for me.

I actually have a phobia of public restrooms. Especially if there are a few to none using the restrooms. It's creepy going in alone...creepier going in a small stall...and terrifying when I have to flush the toilet. I have to open the stall door before I flush because I will literally run into the door trying to escape. (The automatic toilets get me every time.)

I used to have a job where we would be high up on scaffolding, and it would wibble, and sometimes it would wobble. I would get terrified and hold onto the railing because I thought it was all going to tumble to the ground, but it never did. The more I got up there, the less fear I had, and eventually it just all went away.

But, for immediate results you should... Get Low ASAP!

I've some great (re)programming techniques via my kinesiological training ...

Quasi-hypnosis for lack of a better, succinct 'typed descript' ...

Don't know if ya could do them to yourself or how to convey it, the how tos!

Wondering if yanno if there are any Kinesiologists in your town???

I'd have ya ask if they specialize in fears/phobias treatment, and incorporate 'Hypothalmic Set Points' treatment into those sessions ...

I have NEVER seen this work fail on fears and phobias ... Would be SO much more effective than self treatment, as well ...

That said ... Personally, I've a healthy fear of rock climbing that I desire to retain ... I live in rock climbing headquarters and think it is daft madness of an activity, but that's just me ...

Have ya considered that ya just might have the same impulse, or do ya really, REALLY wanna conquer and do this?

Outhouses are definitely scaryscared ... I watched too many X-files when I was younger.

I honestly thought about hypnosis, but I don't know if it's worth the money. I really really want to get over my fear because I think rock climbing is awesome, exhilarating exercise.
Thank you though, I will try to look up some stuff on kinesiology.

Well, there are different branches of hypnosis ...

I've yet to see ANY be effective, doesn't mean it isn't out there somewhere ...

'Straight hypnosis' by a 'Hypnotist' ... Did do squat for me or any colleagues/associates of mine, in the past of our efforts along those lines ...

I've only seen what I do work ... Hence the tip ...

IF ya could find the described practitioner?

It WOULD work in 1 set, no bull!

If ya found who ya believe to be the described Kinesiologist, I could screen for ya - if ya like!?

Edit - Eeeesh, can't type

I used to watch a lot of X-Files myself. But, unfortunately, I can't say that was the blame for my fear of using the public facilities. And the closest to an outhouse I've been in was a portable potty. Never been in a real outhouse. Ha ha!

In ALL my experience - once, as stated in my 2nd post ...

Gone! - That is given it be done by a Practitioner wielding near these same tools outlined ...
