Driving down this winding road amidst the twilight softly shining
I lament the journey now where conquest once delighted Past the ivory shades of gray, the sounds of night will not obey Like the order of the wolf and owl- Who at a time did grip this place alone within the frays Speak oh voices of the night call upon th moon Bring forth this hour to chase away the dawn of doom This path of charcoal highway did not so seem at first.. . .so close but yet so far so demanding so accursed Where is the end or does it fill the desires of my soul? Where hope abounds and time resounds the wanting of the light. Robert S. "The Road" |
