I am seriously considering getting a subaru impreza wrx sti. Should I buy new or is there a particular year were there was a better model? I would want to get one used but not older than 2007. Had a buddy that drove one and it looked fun to drive!

Ok, I decided the wrx sti was too much car for me. After driving a 99 Ford Tourus for six years, I'm still ready to replace my clunker for a car that can handle mountain roads and off road! Well, at least before I get hitched and have to get a van or something.

hey don't give in to suburbia so easily!! surprised

the STI looks like a great ride! or an s2000, s4, 350z, m3 gtr, z4, G35, 911 gt3, lotus etc. etc. i assume the ferrari or astin-martin are out of the question?

laugh

not to mention all american muscle, mustang, vette, camaro, challenger, charger etc.

of course if you want real budget excitement there are sport bikes!

drinker

personally found some astounding deals on used m3's as long
as you can find someone to maintain them at a reasonable price

also very good deals on used american muscle.

the STI just doesn't have the sales volume to produce a large
enough good quality used vehicles for sale imho

It's not easy to find a reasonably priced compact car with power unless it has turbo. Thanks for letting me know about the drawbacks of turbo. A Suburu Impreza with out Turbo has 170 HP. Would it be more cost effective to get that and do some modifications to bring the HP at +200 HP?

Putting $10K - $30K to get extra Horse Power out a vehicle does not seem very cost effective. Still looking for a fast compact that won't brake my bank.

used bmw m3. can't beat it. or used porsche.
they can go remarkably cheap and hella hella fun to drive
if you can tweak them yourself. may have to go back a few
years but not too far.

used mustangs are also a great buy.
sti's just aren't enough of them around to get a great deal
costwise.

the audi a4 is another option
or a 3000gt/stealth vr4 twin turbo
there are other choices too

go forth, build/maintain your own and well oh hell yes!

After looking at some other cars, the Imprenza is getting lamer every time I think about it. I was surprised to find that the Scion tC was starting to look good. Others on my list of interest where: Mazda3, Nissan Altima, Mitsubishi Lancer GTS, and the Hyandai Sanata (w/V6). I will be going to get a car this weekend. It will not be a Suburu!

Of the cars on your list there I would think the Lancer would be closer to what you seem to be looking for.

I did test drives Saturday. I drove a 2010 Nissan Altima 2.5 s, 2011 Hundai sonata GLS, 2010 Mazda 3 i Sport, and a 2010 Mistibushi Lancer GTS. Tuesday I pan on driving a 2010 Mazda 3 s Sport and a 2010 Nissan Sentra SE-R. I will be taking my time getting a new car because I will be looking for a new place to live at the same time. Plus I want to have more time to negotiate for better prices and test drive more vehicles. I found out I have an employee GM and Ford discount from where I work that I believe is 10% off, which puts the Ford Mustang and the Chevy Camaro into the picture of possibilities.

My Ford Taurus blew head gaskets due to overheating from the coolant leak. I will have to purchase a car this weekend. A co-worker mentioned Craiglist for looking for used cars but not sure where to start on that. I am looking for a compact that is fuel efficient, reliable, has a little muscle. I know if I buy new or used at a dealership I will be paying a great deal more than from a previous owner, but I am limited on time. There is still the $3000 rebate and employee discount for Chevy products, so I could get a Camaro for considerably less.
