I really want to work, but the jobs just arent there right now, not the ones which will actually PAY a living wage for a family

yikes, isnt unemployment only a fraction of a previous wage?

I could easily join the ranks. Its frightening isnt it?

I think it varies by state, but I dont know. In ohio, I got a percentage from my past job depending upon how many years I Was there,,,,in my case it was three years and they gave me fifty percent.

here in nevada, I put in three years as well and received nearly the same fifty percent

Here in California I get 425 dollars a week. If you don't have credit card bills or car payments etc...it is not to bad.

But I know I have to go back sooner or later....I just have never experinced this in my whole life...I grew up on a ranch, so I always worked. I worked outside jobs through high school, I worked to put myself through college. Then went straight to work after college. Until I was laid off last august...I didn't know life could be soooo good!

The Ex just got a job after being without since Oct.
I am happy for her.

Funny thing about not wanting to hire the unemployed, I have applied for a couple part-time/temp jobs and never got a nibble on them. I currently work three nights a week, and am off 4 days a wk, so I have the time for part time work.

You mean folks are more likely to want to hire you if you are currently in another position? ...and that is why you work part time? Why arent you looking for a bang up full time position while you fit the category of 'employed' and therefore 'more valuable'?

Well no matter the reason, I'm happy that perhaps a person without any work at all was contacted first. Heck by US Labor Dept stats we make up almost 10% of America .. at least someone's watching?

If you estimate in, all the folks who still have no job and unemployment ran out and the folks who quit looking and lost unemployment, you might see, the unemployed rate could be up around 17 to 20%.

Yes, it's a fully benefited position.
Three nights in a row, then 4 days off in a row. No call, Holidays, or week-ends unless I am looking to pick up some extra hours.

Plenty of time off to enjoy life.
