Listening intently to the giggles and shouts

Speaking it as if it were the first time
"The plane ride Aunty wow it was so cool
Arianna cried though
She asked for you the whole time

This brings a smile to my face
I miss her already
How I long to hold her
Make her laugh
Sing the silly songs with her
Hear the same tired old knock knock joke over and over
"Aunty are you listening??"
Katie asks
"Yeah pud I'm here

She goes on and on about the plane, the landing
All the people at the airport
How hot it is there
About all the great things she's seen
And I miss her too

I sigh and explain
"Aunty cannot come right now pud

She giggles and says

Matt talks about the plane and wonders how it flies
"How can it stay up there, all that metal and all??"
I tell him its magic
He laughs and says he knows its not
I don't really have an answer this time
He goes on to tell me about the beach
"You should see it, its really hot
Lots of people but I got you sand
I know you have sand from all over"
I laugh and tell him he's right
He whispers so no one can hear

I miss him too
All of his facts and silliness
His burps and shouts
His millions and millions of questions
He asks if I want to talk to Arianna
I am afraid it will make her sad
Only to hear the phone being grabbed

She shrieks with delight
She babels on much I cannot understand
"Beach "she says "Sand too"
" I go swimmin" " I pee in the potty"
She giggles at this and I tell her
"Thats my big girl"
I try not to cry and realize how much my heart aches
How important they are to me
How much I love them
I whisper " I love you My Arianna"
She whsipers back " I love you too My Jenni"
She drops the phone and runs off
I wipe away my tears
My sister in law comes on
"You can stop crying now"
I sniffle and say I did
"Don't worry we'll be home soon
Sunday isn't that far away"
If she only knew that it is light years away
How I wish they were home today....
